The crash happened because of fed reserve policy.
But for argument's sake, let's say I agree w you. The Great depression didn't become "great" until government got involved by starting way more central planning and spending.

Roosevelt didn’t take office until 1933. Unemployment peaked in 1933. The big increase in spending happened after that. Even Hoover finally realized that his tight fisted approach was failing.

Look up all the central planning and spending done by Hoover. The Smoot/Hawley Tariffs really kicked off The Great depression. Not the market crash. Again government getting involved is what caused that depression to be great.
