I didn't say he was a rocket scientist, I said he launches rockets.

I like him even more then. High IQ individuals tend to not be that successful excel in a micro economic and scientific way. Elon has became a macro economic success across several scientific lines.

Let us not forget that Einstein didn’t fit the DOE or Mensa Mold.

You read that a psychologist that analyzed his speeches and Tweets?? Lol are you really that dense? First boy wonder, personally disorder is largely untreatable and difficult to diagnose so your social media psychologist is full of crap and certainly can’t be diagnosed off of Tweets or a speech. One of the dumbest statements ever put forth on this board. Self loathing statements by someone aren’t meant as a self diagnosis and autism is pretty common in very intelligent people

All he does is cut checks for people who can launch rockets. I'm glad he's doing it. Commercializing space travel is a net good for humanity. But let's keep that in perspective.

Already went over this: started life on third base, was a gen xer when basic "this thing but on the internet" ideas could be turned into billion dollar products because the internet was a complete greenfield. Notable that PayPal sorta sucked in many respects - a few pretty hilarious security vulnerabilities - but it was early to the space and that was enough.

My position is that anyone who came from parents with some means and got clued into the internet could have made out like a bandit. I was born early enough to make a career in this field but all the low hanging fruit like an online payment processor or website for connecting with friends were already seized upon when I was a middle school or high schooler. The problems remaining are either hard enough that you can't do it as a startup or the maturation of tech leading to platform owners simply walling off the small timers from breaking into the space. I have no doubt Musk was a bright guy but in the modern world if you see a successful person there is usually a parent who was just a successful or more so behind them. Many of our famous musicians have parent with blue links on wikipedia. Most of our "self-made men" came from upwardly mobile middle class at a minimum but often just the lower rungs of the upper class itself. Zuckerberg was the child of a dentist and psychiatrist for example.
