Games have a rating system. Just like movies and music. The ESRB have been around for over 30 years.
And that keeps all violent games out of the hands of young kids too. Amirite?
Hey. We are blaming guns for lurching themselves out of their storage and bouncing down to schools and killing people. Why is it so asinine to blame video games?

Because while video game sales have gone up, violent crime levels have gone down?

Kids being shitty are much more a product of shitty parents than music or video games.
When little Jimmy is 7 years old and is disrespectful he should get a spanking and lose some electronics.
Responsibility is taught not genetic.

Grown men shouldn’t play video games.
I've met people online playing games that are anywhere from age 16 to 60+. In every single one, the gamers are more friendly and civil to each other than the people on this board. Plus, research has shown that gaming can help to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's and dementia in the elderly.

Parents shouldn’t let their kids play video games which are lifelike and involve shooting.
These lifelike games sound fun. Can I get a list of them? The ones I play are obviously fake with guns and technology that doesn't exist, jetpacks, teleports, running on walls, quick healing from multiple gunshot wounds, and many more things that are impossible in real life.

Probably not since dropping an anvil on the head of a cartoon bird is rarely an option.
And going bullet time or fighting WW2 over again is?

I played video games until I was about 16 and then grew out of them. In other words I grew up and to see 20 and 30 year old grown men playing video games is pretty damn sad, but nothing surprises me when it comes to millenials.
Not sure how old you are and I won't take a guess, but please explain to me #1 how someone having a different hobby than you is sad #2 how playing video games is different than watching tv or going to the movies. You sound rustled as hell.

The video game hate is simply a defense mechanism for borderline illiterate neanderthals against the scourge of "the nerds" that they so despise.
The reality is that modern video games can be absolute marvels of creativity in design and storytelling. Decrying the entire medium is just as absurd as insulting people who read fiction or watch movies.
And with that said, I'm going play some more Spec Ops: The Line. God bless Steam sales...

It’s just another effort to take the blame away from what is really the issue. Evil
Just because I go see a movie in which someone is shot doesn’t somehow force me to the go and shoot someone. It’s my own decision as to whether or not I will be influenced by the situations around me. As for the argument that the guns are the issue, and that certain types of guns are the issue; I can use the same argument to say that a multitude of other things should be banned. For example, when compared to the deaths caused by vehicles, guns pale in comparison. And furthermore, the vehicles that have the ability to cause more harm is larger vehicles such as 18 wheelers. So using the same logic, we could solve vehicle deaths by banning large vehicles. I guess we should blame the pencil and pen manufacturers for any wrong answers to questions?
