This is happening.

we're going to get a balanced budget
This is going to take a long time. Will take much longer than 2 years, and will likely require a supermajority.

I don’t think so. The thing about Trump is he broke the elite consensus towards mostly free markets, free trade, and liberal social policy. This Republican Party is still toothless but it’s much more nationalist and explicitly about white power than anything that existed before and this is great! But the party leadership is still full of cucks who only go along with Trump because Trump is popular with the base and otherwise would be advancing watered down Clinton policies. I think if the movement outlasts Trump, if JD Vance wins the election in 2028, then the Republican Party will truly be a nationalist party for at least the next couple decades.
The downside to this good news is that Trump has also broken the Democrat party which now looks ill equipped and feckless in the face of an opposition party that no longer is just a slight variation from themselves. This has opened them up wide to a struggle between that leadership and radicals who want to universalize healthcare and cut off funding for Israel. I think in a strange way they too are entirely dependent on Trump. They don’t like each other that much and once Trump’s gone they might eat each other, if anyone other than Vance is the Republican nominee in 2028. If Vance wins I think we can look forward to several more decades of nationalists vs socialists in every election, like we are any European country in the last half century. If Vance doesn’t have the nomination both parties will have a lot of internal fights for the next several cycles until something works itself out

1. “Accepted” precludes the fact of a large faction trying to change it.
25 years ago, how big was the loony tune faction wanting to transition preteens? It wasn't large. It was tiny. Same for open borders. Same for abortion at the time of delivery. I could go on.

2. It will auto-define progressives as radicals, because they are the ones always trying to change what we are trying to conserve. But sometimes the progressives are right and the longstanding mores are the radical ones - slavery, for example.
Was slavery supported by a majority of Americans when it was practiced? (honest question)
I think the "auto-define" argument is framed incorrectly and "conservative" is poorly defined as "trying to conserve the status quo". Example, if open borders and transitioning children become the status quo, am I expected to support them because I'm conservative? And I doubt the radicals "always trying to change things" are going to go to work to reverse those laws/mores.

I mean the current administration is pushing for more federal power, specifically the executive. You can't look at the current republican party and think they are the party of small government, lower taxes, etc. So it starts at the top

The USA is a center right country the commies just have a louder voice and control communications.
Who do you think are the commies? Is it the administration that is using federal funds to buy into private companies? Or the one that is allowing big donors to donate to the socialistic program of the trump accounts while receiving large federal contracts? Or is it the one offering several different checks to give to the public, including one for voting republican? This current admin has been the closest thing we have seen to a communist leadership in our 250 years.

Yes on the trannies. I don’t believe that’s as true of the abortion nuts and the open borders types. Now, if by open borders you mean the Biden administration paying to recruit them, herd them across and settle them here, that’s rather new, but it’s also pretty much a historical event now. There is no major constituency on the democrat side that wants to reengage in that. I’m sure a lot on here will disagree with that, but they are wrong.
Was slavery supported by a majority? I don’t know either. For what it’s worth, ChatGPT says “Probably not”.

Name the Democrat office holder back in the 90's that supported the right to abort at the moment of birth.
I don't agree about open borders. Biden didn't campaign on paying to recruit them, herd them here, etc., and neither are Dems campaigning on those policies now, but ask yourself - what happened to all the Dems that supported Biden's efforts all of 4 years ago? Were their minds changed?
