Bingo. I'll bet that never crossed either of their minds. Add that to the initial attempts of local LEO to let this go uncharged and you get the shitshow we have today with the bonus of people attempting to canonize Arbery.

It absolutely does. The McMichaels certainly hurt their case by committing a felony while attempting this citizen's arrest.

Just a thought. If I were ever going to commit a murder, the first thing I would do is call the police before I did it. Makes perfect sense. It's illogical. Whatever this was, it would be hard to describe it as a murder or a cold blooded killing. Even backwoods rednecks are smart enough not to alert the police before they carry out some planned crime.
It's called a murder because they killed someone while they were committing aggravated assault, a felony. Most states, if not all of them, are the same in this regard. If you kill someone while you are committing a felony, it doesn't matter if it's on purpose or accidental. It's murder.

An unemotional reading of the agg assault and felony murder statutes as well as the relevant case law leads one to that conclusion, as it did the GBI. I doubt the GBI was emotional when they believed that was what occurred.

Fixed.

I think continuing to refer to it simply as a "citizen's arrest" infers they were doing so in a legal manner, thus giving those backing the McMicheals a false defense.

There's no emotion there. Kork's statement is factually correct.

Well that would be dumb to doubt.

Why? They reviewed all the evidence and came to that conclusion.

Please make your case that it's emotional to believe that the McMichaels committed a felony assault.

Also leave out the part about citizens arrest, as McMichael's own statements disqualify them from attempting one.

Why

Because the nation is raining down on them accusations that Georgia is a giant klan rally and the political pressure to do something are enormous.

You’re not being very rational.
