The Real Fear of $15/hr Min Wage
Literally every other business except the one I'm going to mention either supports the Dem Agenda or is self-run and will survive (because they have) without this policy:

How the frick do grocery stores, fast food chains, gas stations, and most (state) government offices stay open, stocked, and/or available at a $15 minimum wage workers? Most states are already between $7-10 and those locations cycle through teens and drug-addicts on a regular basis.

They survive through automation. I'm talking about the large chain stores. A $15/hour minimum wage kicks automation into high gear. And, then the Dems will be promoting UBI b/c a lot of their constituents won't have jobs. Small businesses will be screwed and will likely be ruined.

Prices will go up and unemployment will go up. The minimum wage is a counter productive policy. Listening to a Democrat talk about the economy is like listening to a woman talk about football.

Most Dem voters aren't even educated enough about business to even know a $15/hour minimum wage is cutting off their nose to spite their faces. But, think about it. If you're an adult working a minimum wage job what are the odds you're sensible or even read enough to know better.

A lot of Dem voters were happy as pigs in slop when they were getting that Wu flu unemployment. Those Dem or dim voters want to return to that and they don't mind lockdowns either. Those are the Dem voters who their party sees as cattle.

I had a guy, a Black guy, tell me yesterday that we already have automation so what I'm saying makes no sense. I walked off from his ass. What these fools don't understand is that the technology is already present for these large chain stores (grocery stores, gas stations, fast food restaurants) to go fully automated and be manned by just a handful of humans. They'll be shocked to go in Walmart or Target and there's only 5-10 humans working in the entire store at a given time.

It's really simple actually.

They have to double their employee pay, so they double their prices and pass it on to the consumer. It doesn't happen immediately, they roll out the price increases in increments so it's less noticeable. It's reverse trickle down economics.

In the long run, all that's accomplished is the devaluation of the US dollar. Nothing more. Liberals for whatever reason refuse to acknowledge this. I've seen it for myself though, the last three times there's been a wage increase. The everyday American John and Jane Doe are the ones who pay the steepest price and suffer most.

We have a very nice independent grocery store in my community, and a Walmart. The independent store has a full time butcher, a bakery (best king cakes ever), and a decent wine & beer selection. The majority of its employees are clean cut, well mannered high school kids. I suspect a $15 minimum wage will put this wonderful grocery store out of business.

China will build the computers that will be used to automate large chain stores.

It's 15 years out. None of these companies are Amazon or equipped to scale in robotics in any similar way. And even if they were, Amazon is still a massive employer of live flesh and blood humans.

EtA: but, I take your point.

Yeah are also missing the massive pay everyone just took as well.

Your money with become work way less. My sister's couldn't absorb that pay cut. One is a teacher and the other just finished pharmacy tech. They'll hey a massive loss of serviceable income.

re: The Real Fear of $15/hr Min Wage
The real reason businesses are being screwed is because of large multinational corporations. Instead of getting food at a local family owned diner people buy it at an enormous fast food chain. Instead of a supporting a local bookstore people buy books on Amazon. If the rate of the minimum wage from the 60s had kept to today it would be around $23/hr. Small businesses would easily be able to afford a higher minimum wage if instead of money going to some billionaire globalist who doesn’t even pay tax here their profits came from the local community and went back into it.

A large store would have to be completely designed and built from the ground up, to make automation feasible for auto stocking, cleaning etc.. What would likely happen first, mediocre employees would lose their jobs, and the dedicated employees would get overworked. Small stores would disappear, unemployment, crime and inflation will spiral upwards.

When (not if) automation comes the government should pay everyone over 18 UBI. People having more money deters crime and it wouldn’t cause much inflation if done properly. Plus people working somewhat less is a good thing. People should have more time to do things they enjoy.

Well, they'll be happy, Biden's "American Rescue Plan" calls for a federal, per-week unemployment benefit of $400 and extending it through the end of September.

If it happens the economics of reality won’t change, they’ll just be adjusted and changed.

But in the long run people will lose jobs and other people making $19-$25 an hour will throw a fit demanding making more.

Basically it’ll create discord and they’ll be able to take more control. Just like they want.
