Those single family household numbers skyrocketed, along with crime, a decade or 2 after welfare was created. They have been stuck there ever since.

I think the term dates back to when they were trying to change the identification of race around 1960s to not sound as racist. Keep in mind the term Colored people was still common at that time.

So by using a different identifier they were trying to make something more proper ( at least for paperwork). I agree that African American is inaccurate as it implies a geographic identification and not a racial one.

There's already a push.

We live in a world with finite resources and humans are selfish creatures by our very psychology. Civilization is a creation to try and control our otherwise destructive tendencies.

A lot of these people don't want a discussion. A discussion is both sides talking and listening to each other. They want to talk while you listen and accept everything they say without question. They want to lecture you, not have a discussion with you.

I mean, this cuts both ways right? I'll certainly engage with fair questions on this board about race. And I really make an effort be thoughtful in my responses. But a pages long dissertation that ends with, "why don't you black people just leave?" seems more like a position statement -a lecture if you will - than a question meant for an actual black person to answer. But I'll pretend that it's not for a second.

One answer is that most Americans are irrationally attached to their hometowns. Like 3 out of 4 of us live near home. Black Americans are American. People who are unwilling to move from uptown to the west bank aren't for any reason going to move to France or wherever.

OK I'll bite,

I'm black, but I'm not a n****r.

I love America, I am American, I served America as an Infantry soldier in the Army and later as an instructor in the Air Force.

I was born into the projects, but I earned a STEM degree and now I earn more than 90% of Americans.

I raised 2 very successful children, I don't do drugs or engage in criminal activity.

I'm pro Trump, pro life, Christian and pro Constitution.

I'll only leave America on vacation or at room temperature.

But I will donate to ship some n****rs home to their motherland.

You know, the Jews left slavery in Egypt and ventured out through the desert on foot to get to their homeland, some of those that left were born there in Egypt. They could have stayed and cried. But they were willing to endure some hardships to have a better life.

The people you are talking about are some lazy assed pieces of crap.

Agree. Law of unintended consequences.

The hard part is that to make real progress in AA outcomes, we must address the real issues. I am not getting a sense that a lot of people want to have that part of the conversation.

I don't believe that it is fair or just to determine if someone is lazy without knowing the context of their decisions or situation.

Im glad that you were able to overcome those hardships in your life. And I pray that others can do the same. But I'm also a realist and understand that certain events can honestly be outside of a persons control (and no, I'm not referring to crime since that is something in your control).

I think many people, not just Blacks, have a hard time really identifying what they want in life and where their distrust or anxiety lies.

This isn't to belittle the accomplishment of yourself or your family. Just saying that life (as you already know) isnt necessarily black and white (pun intended).

Well I respectfully disagree, I hear of people being "trapped" in the ghetto or Queens all the time. It wasn't long ago Greyhound was offering nationwide rides for $49. So for $20 you can get to Kansas. But that takes courage and a willingness to get a job. If you have a cell phone, you could have bought that ticket.

ETA: I grew up in black communities, I know what the problem is.

TYFYS (and your post).

I've been with and around blacks all my life. They're as much an American citizen as I am. But it seems as if they struggle to embrace that.

This is their country. Their turf. A land of opportunity and freedom and bounty like no other.

But what's in Africa today for American blacks? I mean, the Euro trader wasn't buying anything the African trader wasn't selling. Do blacks really want to return to the land that sold their ancestors?

Where is the black man's future?

Imagine going off to war to fight for such a country overseas - only to come home and still be persecuted. Further imagine being told it is immoral to protest that same country.

You're very welcome, I never realized what a privilege it was to serve America until I got out.

Africa has nothing to offer anyone today, at best it is the same as major American cities. Ran by totally corrupt dictators that seek to pile up their stash of gold.

The black person's future is ahead of their present. America is the land of opportunity, that's why almost everyone want's to come here.

The conflict in your understanding is that you are not dividing blacks from n*****s. I left the black community, not because of the police or racism, but because I didn't want to live among the n*****s.
You can't have anything, and you cant enjoy life when you live among them. If you are in the black community at night getting gas, don't worry about racist, white people or cops, but you better worry about the n*****s.
