Society has been moving towards tolerance and inclusion since the signing of the Magna Carta. A lot of folks are having their worldviews challenged.

There’s your problem. There’s no mention of pregnancy or miscarriage in older translations. It’s a modern interpretation of a ritual used to ease the mind of an accusing husband. Only God will be able to deliver justice.

He has a warped view of Christianity because of a terrible translation of the Bible.

Here’s the KJV

quote:

The Adultery Test
11 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him,
13 And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;
14 And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:
15 Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.
16 ¶ And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD:
17 And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:
18 And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse:
19 And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse:
20 But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband:
21 Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;
22 And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.
23 ¶ And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water:
24 And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.
25 Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it upon the altar:
26 And the priest shall take an handful of the offering, even the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water.
27 And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.
28 And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
29 ¶ This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled;
30 Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.
31 Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.

Why does society care if anyone wants to murder anyone?

Do we have a baseline standard of morality, or no?

They're authoritarians.

The interesting thing is these extremists support Trump who doesn't give a shite about abortion.

Seems like it is still there in that version as well.

If society has to rely on abortion to (questionably) make our communities safer, that is a scathing indictment of where we are.

Maybe some of us are actually conservative and don’t worry about others and mind our business.

My issue with abortion is that it’s subsidized by me and others.

If you’re so passionate buckey, log off and head over to a clinic to protest, don’t blame Trump supporters on here.

No, it’s not.

Your belly also swells when you have diarrhea or many other sicknesses.

And the Bible mentions the “thigh” throughout it and its meaning isn’t any different here than it is throughout the rest. It means your upper leg.

Stop trying to warp the Bible to your worldview.

You’re equating conservatism to libertarianism. Being okay with abortion is not a conservative position.

Color me shocked that you’re not conservative.

This is the key part. It's a moral choice no matter how hard that is to accept on our part. If you don't want to lose the war you accept this battle is a loss and fight for laws that protect the baby as it grows. This is not a winnable fight in our pathetic and immoral world. Let God sort them out if they want to murder babies.

The most confounding thing about being so very pro abortion is the these same people would want you imprisoned for walking on a beach at night with you children flashlight in hand because you might cause the demise of a single sea turtle hatchling. Makes perfect sense … not

Yeah let’s legalize rape and murder as well. Because God will just sort it out. Let’s just kick our feet up and lean back and let Him do all the work while we clutch our pearls and exalt about how morally righteous we are.

How the frick are you supposed to win souls when you condone this? Not providing a way of worldly Justice for those who commit murder is not serving your Lord - it’s being a coward and enabling sin.

Okay then, once again you “conservatives” are the ones with a losing cause then. You being the one telling someone what they should and shouldn’t do can enjoy the same treatment by the left by them telling you what you should do…

Not sure what Bible you are reading, but it does not matter anyway. This is not a Christian issue. Murder is forbidden in every religion, every country, and even pure atheists agree. The mental gymnastics it takes to claim that abortion is not murder are fascinating.

I’m glad we’ve drawn the distinction.

You and I are not on the same team. It’s a joke to even suggest we are.

quote:

You being the one telling someone what they should and shouldn’t do

“Don’t murder your baby!”

I didn’t know that would be so controversial. Should we tell them not to shoot up schools too or would that be wrong in your eyes? What about mutilating children so they can act like the opposite sex? Should we tell them not to? I’m sure in your mind that’s mean because we’re telling them what they should and shouldn’t do.

Those Ten Commandments? So terrible! How dare they tell us what we should and shouldn’t do.

Man, the Bible, Jesus? Terrible! I hate being told what we should and shouldn’t do.

quote:

It’s surely going that way because y’all enjoy losing elections and punting the ball every chance you get! Your team is full of whining losers with ZERO convictions, ZERO principles, and ZERO morals. Don’t ever call yourself a conservative again.
