It’s a thing. The Russians choose to venerate the Soviet Victory in WW2.
The Soviets used Russian nationalism to sell the war effort, so there’s a linkage, and for ordinary people, they’re not thinking about slogans, like workers of the world unite, they’re thinking about their grandfather, or their great grandfather, who fought in the war, and the subsequent victory.
WW2 went on to become the foundational myth of the Soviet Union, and the war, and the victory over the Germans, still resonates with ordinary people, even if Communism and the Soviet Union doesn’t. It’s the good war, the way WW2 is for Americans.
Here’s a photo of Russian soldiers flying the Imperial Flag.

This is my favorite map for tracking the war. Shows generally where individual units are deployed on both sides. For me, it makes it easier to understand what's happening.

Okay down voters, tell us why this source isn't valid?
The YouTube guy yall said showed what appeared to be staged bodies. Though he has interviewed several dozens of Ukrainian citizens who say it is Ukrainian troops doing most of the war crimes.

Are you talking about Lancaster? My understanding is most of his videos show people complaining about the Ukes more than the Russians in Donbas. But, maybe he goes out looking for that, I don't know. I don't really trust any reporting right now.
Crazy arse Gonzalo Lira, who has been calling Zelensky the Cokehead of Kiev and the SBUs as thugs in his videos and podcasts from Kharkiv, has been missing for a few days. I think they got him.

What is it about them being "nazis" that bothers you? Are they blitzkrieging through europe and exterminating millions of jews? If not let me know when they have that capability and I might give a shite.

Here is some background on Lira. He is American writer and director and has lived for some years in Kharkov. If Azov got a hold of him, he is more than likely dead. If SBU, tortured but maybe alive, maybe not.

Yes Lancaster, he has interviewed citizens in two or three different towns that all have similar stories.
A lot is people just walking up to him as he is walking around.
I agree with you on not trusting any reporting right now but his interviews with citizens I give more credence to than other.

He's a clown. He claims to be independent but absolutely works with the Russians. He has posted videos from years ago and pretends they're recent. In February he posted of a video of a "Ukrainian IED attack on civilians" which was completely staged...all from the morgue. I'll add a few more ridiculous things he has done here in a little bit. I don't have time at the moment
