What good does it do the NYT and CNN to release Trump's tax returns. Neither has standing authority to challenge the returns and the IRS has apparently accepted the returns as filed or amended. If Trumps showed large losses and paid no taxes so be it. Its up to the IRS enforcement to challenge them.
The administration can now pursue the source of any leaks and hold it out as proof of the deep state and the bias against him. This will inflame his base and expand his support with those who are angered by governmental over reach. No matter what is in the returns it will have little effect on creating anti - Trump sentiment.

What are you talking about? They are precisely the enforcement arm of the IRS.
They have all our private info. You frick with them, and the Democrat Bureaucrats that run it, they will use that info to expose you.

I don't think this will play out like they hoped it would. None ofit will affect his re-election chances and nuch of the electorate dislikes the IRS. This will be another nothing burger. Chris Cuomos is breathlessly reporting at the moment. He has two reporters on who should be prosecuted for conspiracy withwhoever released his tax returns.

To have them or traffic in them is illegal and unamerican.

The Left will look for a reason to open an investigation on tax fraud or something BS - and use that as a thorn in Trumps side for 2020.
They aren’t counting on investigation/outrage fatigue they are creating.
People are getting tired of the 24x7 faux outrage.
