The problem is... that demographic absolutely HATES competitive sports. They think winners/losers is "unfair" and "cruel". Trying to win = an attack.
They are products of youth soccer leagues that didn't keep score.
Time will tell.
But, I hasten to question whether the issue of whether US Pro Sports will prosper from this shedding of its "old" fan base is really an important question at this moment in US History? After all, if the Marxists can continue to consolidate political power in the USA, the Party will "prop up" a totally politicized Pro Sports league in order to utilize it as a platform for the Party's agenda. By "prop up" I mean bailouts by FedGov tax money.
IF the American Pro Sports leagues can demonstrate their political usefulness to the Left, the Left WILL reward these owners once sufficient political power allows the Party to do so.
The American Pro Sports Leagues are literally BANKING on the Radical Left's continued progress in taking over the USA. And why shouldn't they? What evidence is there to indicate that the USA has done anything but quietly allowed the Radical Left to gain greater and greater political power here in the USA? The 2016 election of Donald Trump? That's hardly any reason to conclude that the US electorate has rejected Leftist control. Now, if Donald Trump wins re-election, that will be some good news. But, I fear that it will take another minor miracle, just like his victory in 2016 was indeed a minor miracle.

The existential threat to the NFL is not from bad publicity or lawsuits regarding brain trauma.
It's from young boys not playing football, which will cause the pipeline to dry up and interest to decline over time.
Being "woke" has nothing to do with either.
Mothers are not letting their boys play football in record numbers. I have a son and I am seeing it all the time.
This is really close to correct. The pipeline won't dry up entirely because in certain places and among certain demographic combinations, there will still be parental appetite to play. What you'll lose is middle-class "suburban" kids. Which means quarterback is about to be the exclusive domain of country boys and inner city kids. Can the league sell the same without Brees, Brady, Rogers, Mahomes, Wilson types headlining? In a decade or so we'll find out.
