How can we condemn different cultures?

That's pretty tame compared to 99% of societies in human history.

Unless one is willing to argue that modern day western society is the pinnacle of morality reached thus far by mankind, then we must concede that morality is relative to time and place and thus we cannot logically condemn such actions. Our western minds can't handle it though and thus we rationalize our way of morality as being inherent to all men across all cultures through history, as inherent morality didn't just pop into being one day along the evolutionary timeline.

In a way, it's the height of arrogance. The reality is that NOT killing albinos is only wrong to us because we say it is. A cheetah is wrong for killing a gazelle only if enough cheetahs suddenly start believing it to be so. The level of consciousness of the beings in question is irrelevant.

Also, frick albinos.

So, what do you think about FGM? I value your opinion.

Edit: For those who don't know FGM.. Female Genital Mutilation...Cutting off the clitoris at age 10. Common African practice. If you are opposed then you don't understand other cultures.

Your attempt at grappling with moral philosphy is sophomoric.

My illogical emotional response is that it's abhorrent. Almost every part of me wants to say it's objectively evil.

The reality though is that that response is entirely dictated by when and where I was born, who I was raised by and what I was told as a child. Logically, I know we're just another animal on this earth and not one of us has ever lost sleep about a crocodile ripping apart a baby wildebeest. So we have higher order thinking and executive functions, so what? Our intelligence didn't suddenly make FGM or murder or anything else an inherent universal evil.

That being said, morality does have an evolutionary base. "Not killing others in my immediate group" has a mutual benefit for survival. It's why we see relative, primitive levels of morality emerge as we move up the chain of mammalian evolution. In that way, there is reason for making certain things "wrong" and illegal. Modern society has been constructed around basic ideas of working together and thus it would collapse if we all suddenly started adopting a purely logical view of morality. We'd go back to living in small groups and fighting off everyone else for food.

We should invade Tanzania and put a stop to this immediately.

Honestly, what a weird article to appear on Breitbart.

List for me all the societies in history which something that you would consider the moral equivalent of that didn't take place and wasn't widely accepted.

I'll wait

What in the actual frick? Killed for their hair and body parts.

It is 20 fricking 14. Anybody doing this needs to be in a game preserve or re-education camp, period.

I'm not judging - I'm just saying.

What does the date have to do with the bjective value of the action?

If it is wrong now, it was wrong in 2000 BC.

So, if you were taught by your mom that she should cut off your penis at age 8 that would be OK with you? Really?

No, but a black man who has his welfare taken away probably isn't very happy about it either.

I guess I'm just aghast that this is still going on.

When you're right, you're right.

They need to be confined and segregated away from civilization and these defenseless albinos.

If they're not careful, an albino with a big, black sword will come through and kill them all.

Well, you'd think that human learning would play a part at some point during the centuries of trial and repeated error, i.e. this shite not producing the "wealth and good luck" that they think they'll get by doing it.

But that's me. I'm an optimist. If stalking and killing albinos, grinding them up and using their pulverized remains to concoct money and luck potions is part of their rich culture, so be it. I wasn't planning on vacationing there anyway.

That's because it is abhorrent.

There are objective morals no matter how much people try to explain it away with "we're just smarter animals" nonsense.

Not only is there absolutely no evidence of this, there is ample evidence to the contrary.
