I have never been more thrilled with someone being fired. However I wish the FCC had not got involved. I think Kimmel was fired because he was a dumbass and not good at his job and had lost half his audience. This outcome was certain when those words came out of his mouth. With the government involved they get to mischaracterize him as a free speech martyr though he absolutely was not that.

The government literally just threatened the company if they didn't fire him. So they fired him. This wasn't some free market crap. But you don't care because it is "team Trump". Screw the country as long as team Trump wins.
so the real question, not your false pretense, is does the FCC have a right and duty to indeed threaten ABC in this circumstance?

hmmmm....
"Broadcasting false information that causes substantial ‘public harm’
The FCC prohibits broadcasting false information about a crime or a catastrophe if the broadcaster knows the information is false and will cause substantial “public harm” if aired."

What is this statement in regards to? Kimmel? No- Tucker Carlson for making false claims about the 2020 presidential election. And they do not have oversight over cable, only their broadcasters.

I'd say if applied evenly in the Kimmel case they certainly have cause to threaten them. So overreach? Nope, just right if applied evenly.

My question is, who sends out the email telling them what to say?

The answer to this is easy if you know which group overwhelmingly controls the media and financial system of this country....

Answer: whoever is running this in it’s current iteration now..
During the 2008 Obama campaign, the campaign's New Media Department developed and managed its own texting platform in-house, rather than relying on an external vendor or a pre-existing DNC tool.

Here is the Jimmy Kimmel video. He was making fun of Trump, not Charlie Kirk.

Where he messed up is bringing up MAGA and the statement implied that the shooter was MAGA and then taking shots at Trump. This was potentially viewed as libelous in the eyes of the ABC attorneys. This is legal CYA 101. Given that ABC has a settlement in place with Trump, it is plausible that what Kimmel said could have violated the settlement. I strongly suspect that had something to do with it given the swiftness, but if there is a gag order in place neither side can disclose this was part of the reason

Wasn't Kimmel suspended because stations refused to show his low-rated show after his comments about Charlie Kirk?
