well successful people with even decent incomes dont tend to rob, steal, sell drugs to get by. Of course there are always some who do, but the lower class tends to have more of these types but of course not all poor people are bad. There just happens to be alot who are willing to take shortcuts to get by

. I'd expect their crime stats to be lower than inner city people where gangs are competing for the rights to sell drugs on every corner.

There are plenty of gangs in San Antonio or El Paso.

The fact is that murder is up because single parenthood rates are up. In 1940, marriage rates among blacks exceeded rates among whites. And divorce rates among blacks were lower than whites'.
But crime has dropped since the 80s while marriage rates have also dropped. I think your point may be true, but I'm not sure the relationship is as strong as your arguing.

Interesting note though, divorce rates have actually dropped on recent decades as marriage rates have dropped. LINK

Right. Why are cities like New Orleans, Baltimore, Chicago, etc. much more violent than San Antonio, El Paso, etc?

Are you suggesting that certain races account for more violent crimes and murders than others, regardless of income level? I fail to see how that supports the point in your OP. The narrative that poverty = violence & murder is still true through all races.

Well if poverty rates have remained relatively stagnant over the last 50 years, how would we explain rising rates of violent crime.

Violent crime has been on a steady decline since roughly 1990.

The same lack of parental involvement that causes kids to act on their impulses, will also cause them to be poor.

Need to factor in youth bulges and culture and it is a dynamic circular causation.

Overall, yes, with the exception of the last three to four years where cities like Chicago, Baltimore, NOLA, etc. have been on the increase.

Detroit is a pretty affordable city. Want to discuss its crime?
It's had a relatively consistent crime rate, although that's a negative since the rates of declined overall.

Right. Detroit poor folk have just as shitty/or worse standard of living than in the two Hispanic dominant cities I've listed, yet has violent crime that dwarfs either city.

Race has a very high correlation to violent crime, this is an iffefutable fact!

I'm not arguing otherwise.

Poverty is also highly correlated.

Detroit is one of the poorest cities in the country. Census bureau: Detroit is poorest big city in U.S.

So I'm not sure if this is a good comparison.

Detroit is also very affordable. Wasn't that the premise of your first reply?

I'm from the poorest county in Michigan and violent crime is nonexistent.

Detroit and Flint are extremely dangerous. What is the difference, you ask? Black people. There are none in my home county.

I believe the connection is overblown by liberals. But it probably has something of an indirect connection. Poverty can cause people to become engaged in the drug trade if they can't make a living through more lawful ways. And becoming involved in the drug trade can lead to murder.

To be fair on blacks it is harder to commit crime if you're in Appalachia and your nearest neighbor is half a mile away. With that being said parts of black culture do glamorize crime.

Do you think poor Hispanic folk live miles apart from each other in SA or El Paso?
