That sounds like an accidental admission.

There isn’t a big city in the world that doesn’t have areas you shouldn’t or wouldn’t want to go to.

Paris
London
NYC

All world class towns with problem areas.

I don’t judge cities based on their housing projects, I judge them based on where you would go for business, tourism or to live as an upper middle class person.

When the crime or issues splash into those parts of town you have a problem.

The idea that New Orleans is worse now than 30 years ago is contrary to all evidence. The huge project are gone and crime— especially murder—is way, way down. By no means am I saying everything is great but facts Trump nostalgia.

Here are the facts.

New Orleans might hit its lowest murder rate since the 70s.

But had the highest in the fricking country just two years ago.

More people lived in the city in the 70s than they do now.

Sundown Towns can be a portion of:

Charlotte
Atlanta
Birmingham

Where it’s absolutely dangerous to walk alone as a white person because people are hunting whites at this time.

And to OP point, they have been as well.

I lived in SF until 2015. In a 4 month span I was robbed at gunpoint in Berkeley. Car windows smashed 4 times across Oakland and SF. Watched a construction worker get stabbed in broad day light and a homeless man crank down looking at my now wife on the sidewalk.

I'm sure all of that is just republican propaganda but I sure fell for it when I got the frick out

I was just in San Diego and LA.

LA is a cesspool with no redeeming values.

It is a crying shame how SD has fallen. SD was a paradise just 15 years ago.

LA is great. I was there during the protests, staying near Dodger Stadium and it was fantastic.

Seattle is very dependent on the location. Downtown is vast and Urban, you'll be in a millionaire type business and condo area and 3 blocks later you'll be in a crowd of nothing but homeless and druggies. Who are increasingly violent. They are about to elect a communist mayor who will drive out the businesses as t a higher rate than ever before.

Portland is not as fortunate. Of all the big cities, it's probably the one that can't recover and will just get worse and worse.

San Francisco depends on the area. For a former Alpha world city, it's sad. The warf and "downtown" area is a shell of itself.

Downtown LA has always been bad, but it's getting worse. Venice is a joke now.

Phoenix isn't bad at all and ICE cleaning out cartel/illegals will do wonders.

Denver is currently the worst it has ever been and getting worse.

Parts of Chicago are as bad as they've ever been. Until recently, it hadn't really spilled over to the miracle mile and north side but it is now. Not sure how Chicago is going to turn out.

It is not vast. It is one of the smaller downtowns of a major city. It is like 2 and a half miles from north to south and barely 2 miles east to west. It was way better before COVID though.

Nah, I walked through Downtown LA while the area was under curfew no less. Maybe you have a skewed view of what ‘pretty rough’ is or maybe you are a pussy. Who knows.
