The Landry-Miguez Rift; Thoughts on CD-5?

I’ve seen one or two too many posters misinformed about the level of coordination between these two men. It’s not across the board, but some still have the notion that there’s some sort of alliance or dealings between Landry and Miguez just because they’re from the same region, and that hasn’t been the case for quite some time. To the extent that one keeps up with Louisiana politics, that isn’t an inconsequential misunderstanding, considering their respective political trajectories and the power each presently holds or may hold in the future. That distinction may become increasingly important. If there is no reconciliation, this could prove to be one of the most consequential slow-burning political rifts in the state and could shape Louisiana politics for years to come.

On a separate but related subject, I’m also interested in the race for the 5th Congressional District. There’s no shortage of contenders, but I haven’t seen much discussion about the race or the people running. I’d like to hear from those who live in the district or are otherwise familiar with it, whether their opinions are biased or unbiased. Who looks strongest, what are the candidates’ strengths and weaknesses, and how do you see the race taking shape?
