When I was a child my dad worked offshore lay barges as a pipe welder for B&R before he rigged out his own truck. Mom was a secretary for a lawyer in Jeanerette.

A black lady, who I still to this day call Aunt raised me. I napped in the same bed with her children, she helped get my home work up, fed me, and to this day I still answer her yes mam and no mam.

The South is NOT inherently racist. It's all in how your parents raise you.

It goes way back. Probably to the 1920s or 1930s. Just shows how things were back then in the South, that it was so open and brazen. It was like being int the Rotary club or something.
