Unbelievable..or maybe totally so. There's no valid reason for this other than leaking bits and pieces everywhere and partisan politics.

I believe it's 99% probability that Mueller had free reign with Trump's tax returns. If the question is whether Mueller had the ability to access to returns of people within the investigation.....why sure he did, hell how else would Manafort and Gates have been charged with tax violations? So sure, Mueller had access and happily got his grubby hands all over them, regardless of objection or not by the "owners" of those returns.
Why were Trump's returns not mentioned in the Mueller Report? 'Cause there was absolutely no criminal activity to report upon. And he'd have gotten his arse burned had he merely included gossip about Trump's net worth this or that citing his returns and other tax info.
There's simply no "there" there.

not that they reported their laundry

The Dems are scared and jealous of the OMB! He called out the swamp and exposed who the RINO’s are. Trump changed the Republican Party, which will be a force to reckon with and they know it. They almost lost the 2020 election even after cheating.

Of course there isn't. If there were, you'd have to be insane to put it in a tax return.
They want to leak selected parts in an extended smear campaign.

Honestly, I don't even think they really want to actually get their hands on them all at once, or at least don't want that perception by the public....then the build up to it is over and they can no longer play the speculation game. They just want it to look like Trump's continuously trying to fight it because "he's got something to hide".
**And yeah you're also right about leaking tiny parts here and there, blatantly out of context.

Why stop there? Let's see all of congress.

Biden is under investigation for foreign influence and they want to find dirt on Trump. Makes sense.

Can't they just look at Biden's family's returns? Much better examples of conflicts of interest there.

Here's where your analysis breaks down. You don't know whether Manafort or Gates resisted disclosure of their tax information. Your 99% probability needs to be adjusted due to your own assumptions.

They are publicly available. If you want them, you can see them.

Really? Shall we take a look at this exact same standard and apply it to Clinton, Obama, Biden, HUNTER Biden, etc?

My point is that whether they resisted disclosure or not, disclosure happened regardless. Did Mueller tell me personally that he had full access to their tax returns and other related tax information? No, but again given the fact that their charges were directly related to discrepancies in their declarations in tax information, it seems like a pretty safe assumption.

Yes, but then you assume a "99% probability" Mueller also had Trump's records, even though we know Trump has resisted disclosure of those records all the way to the Supreme Court.
You don't know if Manafort and Gates resisted at all.

Every President since Nixon has publicly disclosed their tax records, so Congressional oversight was possible contemporaneously. I'm not saying Congress needs to examine Trump's records, but they have already examined past Presidents' and can do so again if they want.

I believe is it 100% probable that people in the IRS have seen his records and if there was anything "there" it would have been leaked.

They want to create as many media distractions as possible

To me it’s obvious they’re looking for anything they can use against him to prevent him from running in 2024 and to even damage his leadership in the GOP.

Trump's opposition to subpoenas of his returns etc is a little more complicated. There have been private (non-government) parties who have been in that fight to seek forced disclosure, as well as state justice officials, namely Manhattan DA's Office. Those are a different set of parameters than the authority that Mueller possessed. Trump himself stated on several occasions that he was of the understanding that Mueller and co. had access to and looked at his tax records as a part of the investigation. If you insist, feel free to adjust the 99% probability I cited. But for my part, I'm sticking with the 99.
