you're certainly correct but suppose repukes do something good the next 2 years, guess who the propaganda machine will give credit to. it'll be the same as gingrich and clinton. clinton fought tooth and nail against gingrich and then stole all the credit for the very stuff he vetoed and campaigned against.

Dole also fought cleanly in 1996. If someone like Trump was running in 1996 against Clinton he would have broken him.

Even when Democrats were in the minority across the board, they were not shutting up. They were constantly on offense. And what were the Republicans doing? Stabbing Trump in the back, being silent about Comey’s fake investigation and breaking promises to constituents who had paid their donations for 10 years on the promise of repeal and replace.
Anyone remember how Trey Gowdy talked a big game? And then he cut & ran as soon as he got the chance.
