The Franken Maneuver

The Dem's hope that by sacrificing Senator S. Smalley, they can force the exit of President Bigley. It's not going to happen.
Had Franken been elected AFTER allegations were made about him and he stayed, Trump would be in no different situation.
The fact that Franken has not faced the voters after allegations were made, as Trump did and was elected, with the full knowledge of the voters.
Trump will never leave because of old allegations. What happened before he was elected has zero bearing on what happens to him now. Even the Russian scam won't do him in.
Let the political blood letting continue. Republicans and Democrats should clean their own stables first, before even considering going after Emperor MAGA.
This charade however will not end.

And it's because he still calls his accusers liars. No apology was rendered by Franken, quite the opposite.
He held a presser to call his accusers liars and to tender a non resignation.
ETA: At the end of the press conference where he called his accusers liars and tendered a non resignation, all the women who 24 hours earlier stood and announced they could never embrace, did indeed embrace him and cried over him.

It will be called the Franken Effect by Millennials in the years to come when they talk with their kids about how brave Franken was to resign. Then they will look on Google and see that Franken never actually resigned

This play wasn't about moving a shameless president or his shameless groupies to action. It's just setting/resetting a narrative for upcoming elections. One president in 228 years has been effectively forced from office. Two others were impeached. Seasoned pols play for the next cycle, not the Hail Mary. If Trump goes down it will be because Mueller brings a case that can't be ignored and/or because the limp-wristed bastards in Congress who know what he is grow a pair.

Franken will resign either as the Senate is adjourning for Christmas Break or early in January. Gonna give the MN governor a time to decide what he's gonna do to replace AF. That Senate seat is NOT gonna be vacant one day and that's why Franken is not gone already.
