Rural and urban have their boundaries redefined mainly because to how we allocate living spaces.

Let's look at Baton Rouge, LA. It's more urban than any of its surrounding cities. Some people would still consider it country.

No such thing. Capitalism is the best economic system ever devised by humans. Everything you hold dear is thanks to capitalism.

Sure. But that doesn't mean something else could perform better

I get that.

But, my point is that while BR is certainly not "rural", it sure as frick isn't "urban" in the vein of some place like Atlanta.

It's like the using the term "rich" to describe BOTH Bill Gates and Peyton Manning.

Those two are in the same category about as much as a Great White and a Pygmy Shark are.

In all fairness, that's the Author's comment, not mine.

I doubt hes attacking capitalism. Only stressing that it has triggered the migration of jobs, and left rural people in their current bind.

Welp. Nothing that's been devised to this point.

If there is something else, it hasn't been invented yet. It surely isn't any of the bull shite leftists believe now.

I don't think there is a current bind. People live where they choose to live
Seems like your trying to apply your values to others

Edit

Now I do understand why rural folks are anti illegal immigration. These people put downward pressure on wages where many urban people appreciate the cheap labor

It's not a huge city but the BR metro is like 65-70th in the country. It's definitely not rural.

Yep.

But. I could list some pretty solid less urban areas that I would also happily choose.

Not all are as you describe.

And hell. I don't see anyone on the left deriding Washington DC urbanites for the same thing!!!

I'm not deriding anyone. Merely pointing out why some areas kinda defy the odds. Most white collar industries have consolidated around big metropolitan areas. That's where most of the private dollars go. The government has strategic and more varied investments elsewhere.

And yeah, you're right, there are some nice areas with good jobs that aren't urban. But they're harder to find and some people would much rather that they remain a secret anyway.

I mean, yeah, BR is urban in a technical sense. But you don't drive down Airline Hwy and think "man, I'm in the middle of it all." I'd say that BR feels like a suburb in most areas within the city limits.

Yep.

As resources and wealth become more concentrated and we see entrepreneurship die out.. it sure seems like a dystopian future is inevitable. I doubt it will be permanent.. and I kind of think of it as a circle of life type deal.

Right, and they still characterize La as rural. It shows you that voting patterns are far too nuanced than to make those simple characterizations.

The best thing would simply be another branch of Capitalism.

The truth is as you state: Nothing is better than Capitalism.

The differences are that each modern nation uses capitalism in a different way.

The answer if you take right wing ideology to final form: Anarchocapitalism

Real free market capitalism is the best. But the US is afraid of having a truly free market.

I agree with you. But since of them post here. The issue is they compare Baton Rouge to places like New Orleans, Atlanta, Dallas, and Orlando.
