I think trying to attribute VS’s collapse to just one thing is a bad take. The reality is nuanced.

Ok, fine. But pretending that it wasn't partially about hiring bitter aging shrews with an agenda to axe the culture is also silly. Those people kill culture. They have a view and are not nearly as tolerant as they preach. VS was fun and outrageous and Karen wanted to talk to the manager about it.

Shopping malls declined, and that's where VS stores were located.

In-person retail has declined.

The quality of retail clothing has declined.

The popularity of lacy undergarments has declined.

Retail fashion trends and preferences have shifted.

And yet all we get is "go woke, go broke." That's just lazy and ignorant.

What's great is as these big brand corporation go woke it opens up market share for startups like Vuori who use traditional models to promote their clothing.

Vuori is killing it.

It isn't the new marketing that killed them.

Squirrel, please.

Nobody want to see a fat slob or some mentally ill tranny in lingerie when this used to be the face of their brand:

The Federalist are certainly TradCons, but I think they do some pretty great stuff as well. Their podcast is reliably good, especially on gender issues/Wokeism. I hold them in higher regard then you do.

VS is shite. Another great brand suicide. Unforced errors everywhere to appease The Woke Goddess bitch girls, boss babes and Queens.

VS deliberately nuked their brand for girl power. I watched it in real time.

No it hasn't. Young, in shape, vibrant, ready to make babies will always be the ideal.

That is the best marketing tool.

VS’s collapse is macro-economic trends catching up to a poorly led company that made lots of mistakes to tank their brand.

Precisely.

I'm not opposed to The Federalist, but I am tired of the 80's Conservative Feminist take being presented as the only view. And the specialize in that.

Well, that's what I saw in the window when I walked past in the mall. I never actually went into the store. Zach is a righteous man.

Cop outs. VS/Pink has had an online presence for longer than startup brands that are now more successful.

VS/Pink has long offered much more than lacy shite in their catalog. Quality was their biggest issue, not inventory.

Lazy, yes. Ignorant, no. Like I said earlier, VS *chose* to embrace woke marketing to obfuscate their inability to keep up with the quality of their brand at the price points they maintained. Other companies took full advantage of their blunder.

If VS had focused on effectively evolving their brand with the times by improving their quality instead of charging high dollar for a declining product (rather than going all in with wokeness), they might have avoided hemorrhaging market share the way they have the past decade-plus.

Getting woke hastened their going broke, even though it wasn't the root cause.

Interesting. I'll pay more attention. I have noticed the incessant inane pop culture references on the podcast by Emily Jashinsky. But then she is the Culture editor so that makes sense.
