That's fine. Until you deny it, or try to assert some moral authority from it.

This is circular. This has already been addressed.

Your logic is still flawed.

You keep conflating two different things:

1) individual Christians do not follow their own belief system

2) the belief system itself is contradictory.

If you mean the second, quit being coy and state your case plainly.

What are some of the tyrannical countries you speak of now and throughout history?

Today: Russia, Iran, Egypt, basically every country in the Middle East and Africa, Venezuela, Cuba, Belarus, Turkey, Serbia.

Historically: USSR, England, France, Germany, Roman Empire, Spain, pretty much all of Europe and every Muslim country.

I’m not making this argument that religion leads to authoritarianism, but the argument that being non religious makes you a communist, or leads to communism and authoritarianism is flawed.

As far as I am concerned, the Near Death Experience provides acceptable evidence of a GOD, an afterlife, a meaning and purpose to existence.

Yeah, this doesn't fly when you can get a similar neurological response from drugs.

One might even call it a self-licking ice cream cone.

I see little value in separation.

Fantastic.

Anyway, I'll assume that you do not. So, if we don't excuse science, why excuse religion?

You do not know what you are talking about. Fine by me but unfortunate for those who might place some weight in your opinion.

Christianity will never die! My earthly/fallen body might be killed, but my soul will live on!

You were the one saying science can prove so much.

It can. It’s proven that mentally ill people aren’t demon possessed. It’s proven that there’s a universe. Proven that you can help sick people to get better, with medicine and with surgery, and how to do those things. It’s proven that Earth isn’t flat.

quote:

It can't prove creation or even something as basic as consciousness and the universal subjective experience which is the reality of existence within this universe

Man, religion can’t prove this either.

Unfortunately the scientific method is severely limited by the scientific method

Which is based on a lot of truth and proven evidence.

Science is useful but can never replace religion.

You’re right. I forgot that the Bible teaches us how to treat tumors, or fix a blockage in an artery, or how to save someone’s limbs.

I have been around too long. I know the troll tricks of wasting my time. Anybody that is interested can do their own homework. Meanwhile, I stick with absolute certitude with my statement that you do not know what you are talking about.

Cool. So you're talking out of your arse because you're offended.

That's what I figured this was, but thanks for confirming.

The point is that science and religion do not overlap. One deals with the physical world and the other deals with spiritual existence. Science cannot replace religion and religion cannot replace science.

This verse is talking about paying taxes. This is talking about the relationship between government and religion. Government is not science.

This is because we are souls with a body not the other way around.
Souls will exist somewhere after the body fails

I've had many similar experiences (out of body experiences) even without drugs and not close to death. There is a lot about the brain we don't understand.

Trump and all those evangelicals making religion such a big part of the Republican Party, is unfortunately going to sway those on the fence on the left. Seeing it everyday now.
