The D.C. Overlords are potentially crafting a 3-4 trillion dollar stimulus?

I understand the need to assist businesses and Americans during and after this pandemic but we're setting ourselves up for a debt spiral we'll surely never service. If y'all we're seriously concerned about the federal debt before this pandemic how do you feel now that our federal government is fixin to supercharge our eventual economic demise by printing trillions of dollars in government assistance?
I'm in the high risk demographics for complications from the COVID19 virus and I'm still working because I have a job that doesn't place me in tight quarters with a lot of people so I continue to work even though my employer offers people of my age two weeks paid leave. I think we're at the point where a hard decision needs to be made to allow people who health experts believe are at low risk from developing complications from COVID19 to continue to work and less stringent social guidelines should be given to those same individuals. People who are high risk should be the folks who take social distancing to a maximum and these folks should be given stringent guidelines and schedules that would allow them to still acquire the necessary essentials for daily life.
This situation is manageable but the cost is still going to be enormous but right now I'm seeing politicians who are using this unfortunate circumstance to exert more authority over the citizenry. We need some clear thinking individuals to step up who understand the risk of the COVID19 pandemic vs the overall health of America.......we're at a crossroad where a decision has to be made, do we sacrifice our country's economic future or do we cower in our homes because some Americans are going to fall ill and potentially die.....it's terrible that people will be sickened and tragic when we lose loved ones to something like this pandemic but the alternative may be much more grim.

Sounds like we need to cut out our foreign aid for home aid and send out bills for world policing.

Scumbag politicians will get at least 50%

The only ones concerned with the national debt are those who are the opposite party of the current administration. Most of my conservative friends during the Obama years always mentioned the debt spiraling out of control. Nowadays, they’re fairly quiet since they support President Trump.
I guess it’s always been this way

You're delusional if you ever thought that they ever intended to pay down the national debt.

Or end the regime change wars altogether.
Also need to put a dedicated tariff on Chinese imports until the cost of the stimulus is paid off.
China is assho.

and I think foreign entities holding our debt, especially the Chinese, are in bigger trouble

It's not just the trillions they're talking about for the stimulus it's the nonsensical approach to navigate economically through this pandemic period.......I'm disappointed the government doesn't have a targeted approach to lessen the damage to the economy. There's no need to snuff the economy to save America.

I feel the same way. My opinion is that retirees (people who don’t need to work) and non retirees over the age of 60 should refrain from work and practice social distancing and avoid unnecessary public gathering for 2 or 3 weeks. The rest of us go about our lives at our own discretion. At a certain point this thing isn’t worth completely destroying our whole economy

But the other side is... we’re already doomed on with our debt. It’s never going down until we default. So this just accelerated the inevitable.

I was worried about it during both. It’s horrible and there’s no excuse for it.

There are going to be several industries that are bailed out. The airline industry (manufacturing and carriers) will be first and the most expensive.
Guess we will be rocketing towards $30 Trillion in debt by November.

I'm sure you're correct. I can understand why we as Americans would want to preserve critical sectors of our economy.....in some ways not protecting critical industries in our economy has contributed to this mess.
