What does the beliefs of the Seven Day Adventist church have to do with my post? I’m Baptist
that its occurred to other people that they were in the end times the adventist were so convinced that they created a new religion around that belief.
i actually went to a baptist college and had to take old testament and new testament survey.
it may interest you to know that the official view of the SBC is that the book of revelations is not a prophecy of the end of times but a book written in the second century to inspire early Christians being persecuted by rome. it was certainly not written by john the apostle. that's the official view but since the SBC doesn't have that much control over doctrine, the book gets abused by some country arse preacher trying to preach a revival.
"the time in nigh repeeennnnt sinners reeeeppppppeeeennnnt!"
of course without the council of nicaea there wouldn't be a bible.....so you're welcome!

Never ceases to amaze me what otherwise intelligent adults are capable of believing.

the guy that taught the class graduated from southwestern seminary in dallas then spent four in a fellowship at the vatican.
he was fluent in Aramaic, greek, hebrew and latin.
he worked with a team that translated the dead sea scrolls.
so yeah he was pretty good.
hey but the bible was written in plain english! and that's good enough for you!
you don't need no learning!

God has given me peace with the probability of becoming a martyr for Jesus Christ in the end times. I’d rather starve to death on a sidewalk than receive the mark of the beast to buy food. To die in the name of my Lord and Savior would be the highest honor. This life on earth is short but eternity is forever, and I want to spend it in heaven with The Father.

You don’t even know the correct name of the last book of the New Testament.

Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts 2 Peter 3:3
Just another scoffer, as prophesied. How could anyone be made aware of the following and not believe the veracity of the Bible?
The frequency of these events testify that Jesus is coming. Our generation will witness His return (Matthew 24:34). All the signs Jesus and the prophets said to look for are present. They include, but aren't limited to:
• The restoration of Israel (Jeremiah 23:7-8; Isaiah 11:11-12)
• The Jewish people in possession of Jerusalem (Luke 21:24-28)
• The global spread of the Gospel (Matthew 24:14)
• A marked increase in travel and knowledge (Daniel 12:4)
• Israel surrounded by enemies (Psalm 83:4-12; Ezekiel 11:14-17; Ezekiel 35:10)
• Israel fielding a great army (Ezekiel 37:10; Zechariah 12:6,8)
• The rise of a United Europe (Daniel 2; Daniel 7; Revelation 17)
• The rise of the Gog of Magog alliance (Ezekiel 38:8; Ezekiel 39:27)
• Increased calls for global government (Revelation 13:7)
• People acting in the way Paul said they would act (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
• Widespread ridicule of the Second Coming (2 Peter 3:3-4)

If the Bible is an untrustworthy source for God’s word to man, how would anyone be able to have confidence in the verses speaking about salvation? And if those passages are untrustworthy, what do you base your salvation on?
I believe the more direct passages in the bible, however I have a hard time with some that are more prone to interpretation. Stating that to be saved is to have faith that Jesus is lord, died for our sins and to believe this is your key to salvation. This is very direct.
Now lets look at something like what the catholic religion has done (which is a solid example of what I am talking about) they have made some characters in the bible "Saints". Where in the bible does it say that certain individuals should be made a saint? Even further than this, where does it say to pray to them instead of God or Jesus?
My point is man has really muddied the water when it comes to religion, specifically what the bible says.

I don't worry about the end times too much. I do read my Bible, and I believe what it says concerning that.
As far as I'm concerned, my job is to be ready - i.e. accept Christ as my Savior and try to glorify God in everything I say and do.
The Bible says that the church, ie the elect, will be taken up into Heaven before the tribulation.

Let go further down the rabbit hole here:
After the great flood of Noahs time which is estimated to be what a few thousand years ago? Jesus died 2,020 years ago and the linage leading up to Jesus is well documented in the bible. It has been estimated that from the time of Adam to Jesus's birth is about 4,000 years, so lets just say 6,000 somewhat years ago right?
Well if that is the case then lets look at the story of the Ark. Taking two of each animal (obviously this is not EVERY species of animal on Earth) and then after the flood not only did Noah and his family repopulate the Earth but these animals that could not have emcompassed all animal life on earth but a few handful of animals somehow mated and bore the animals of earth we see today? Only six thousand years later and we have had millions of species of animal life derive from a very small portion of animals that would have been able to be brought onboard the arc?
So do you think that evolution could have happened that rapidly? Not unless some divine or extra-terrestrial intervention happened. And if it did happen where in the bible does it claim this?

the concepts of canonization and intercession evolved over the third and early fourth centuries. at that time it was a local custom overseen by bishops, in the 9th century it was standardized by the Vatican.
it's just a shame we didn't have any good bible loving Christians around back then to help us understand the bible we wrote and the religion we created.
