Wrong. Only in the mind of those easily manipulated. Just my opinion.

I am not easily manipulated. The Confederate flag shouldn't be flying over any government building however

Using that thought process should we not ban the US flag for what the government did to the native Americans?

Is it that prevalent in other areas of the south?

They're pretty common in the sticks of Alabama. Rarely see one around Birmingham, but get out in the country, and they are pretty prevalent.

Its just a flag, and it's a part of American history. That is ALL it is, nothing more nothing less. It only becomes something more when you ascribe more to it than what it is.

If it's a symbol because the Klan used it, then by all rights you have to include the American flag with it as well, because they've used it just as much.

It will become a historical piece of cloth again when you stop worrying about it and putting it up as a symbol of racism. The real symbol of racism is the human heart, that which we would rather not fixate on since it's the real problem, not some damn piece of colored cloth waving on a flag pole or whatever.

Well stated - nothing to add

If we are to ask black people to stop bringing up slavery as an excuse or reason for whatever ails them, then I think it's time we stop trying to protect a flag. Yes, to many people it's a source of pride. My family fought on that side of the war. They were honorable and proud, but let's allow the past to die.

I upvoted. It's not a divisive sign of hate to me, but it is to some people. Those same people bled and died for this country in world wars and proxy wars.

I don't mind moving on and really none of us should.

Don't you know? That's what MLK wanted us to learn...prejudge people by how they look...oh, wait

You mean by color. It's perfectly reasonable to judge people by how they voluntarily project themselves. When you see someone dressed as a skinhead or a gangbanger do you find it unreasonable to make any judgements on them based on their appearance? You'd be a fool not to, wouldn't you agree?

Those same segregationists marched with the US flag also. Should we ban it?

We shouldn't even ban the Confederate Flag. It doesn't belong on government buildings because it's the flag of a seditious territory that lost.

Even with all the ugliness(and there is a lot) that has been done under the American flag, it's the flag of a recognized, sovereign nation. Not surprised you don't see the difference.

100% of people I've observed flying that flag were trashy AF and would have looked trashy without it.

Same can be said about the 'rainbow' flag - or the blm flag. - or the mexican flag in the USA.

Some, but most people are not that complex and are who they appear to be.

How do you determine this without knowing each person? How can you deduce their level of "complexity"??

I've never understood flying the flag of traitorous losers anyway. You lost. The South will not rise again. Period.

I hate the flag and what it represents

What it represents to you isn't necessarily what it represents to the person flying it. You have the right not to fly it. And you have the right to protest those who fly it.

But you do not have the right to impose your representation/interpretation of it on others.

That's the problem with extreme liberalism.

True, although the rainbow flag is the only one of those I've personally seen displayed. I've seen lots of battle flags so I have a wider pool to judge from.

It flies side by side with the US flag in most California cities courthouses and town centers.

At least the Confederate flag represented once Americans.

I mean does any other part of the country fly another nation's flag with the American flag?

How come nobody protests the Mexican flag on equal level with the US flag in California and Arizona?

Nah. The pussy flag is stupid. The rainbow flag and Mexican flag aren't stupid.

I won't speak of the other flag you mention.

Exactly. Anyone who I see waving that shite around I immediately categorize as a white trash redneck.
