“It’s completely unacceptable for either the government or the private sector to impose upon you the requirement that you show proof of vaccine to just simply be able to participate in normal society.”

DeSantis said that people shouldn’t need to show proof of inoculation against the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus to go to a game, movie, theme parks, or other social events.

I have a liberal relative that has never had the flu shot, yet is in favor of everyone required to have a Covid vaccine card.
I'll never understand these people

I know I’m about to get hate for this. What is the difference from a baker refusing to bake a cake for a gay couple and the same baker refusing to bake a cake for someone who isn’t vaccinated against Covid?

I don’t care what the baker decides or who he bakes cakes for. Shouldn’t the gov’t stay out of this debate as well?

In full disclosure I wouldn’t shop somewhere that demanded to see if someone is vaccinated. It’s not their business, but don’t see why this is a gov’t matter.

As long as the gov’t doesn’t require a vaccination for use of gov’t services then I’m fine. Let private businesses do what they want and take responsibility for their actions.

They want you to have some sort of proof of vaccination to, as DeSantis puts it, participate in normal society. But having proof of who you are to vote is racist.

If I’m not mistaken, the Biden admin is working with big business to develop the vaccine passport. So the government is already involved, they are getting private businesses to do what it can’t. Sort of like how the government allows social media companies to limit free speech since they can’t

I've been eying florida for a few yrs now, but the humidity is killer. But if this guy can keep getting things in place AND permently, and I can find confidence it's going to stay that way, it may just have to happen. And I'm a Texan.

My concern is who is following him up. Is the states repub party different, and brewing more America First conservatives than other states??

The left is going to throw everything they have at Florida to keep DeSantis from being reelected Governor in 2022...and he will likely win by an even greater margin than 2018.

In grew up 15 miles from the Florida line and have family on both sides of the line and land there. I am having thoughts, too, about moving back to the Big Bend area, especially if Abrams goes in in GA.

The left is largely threatened by him because he’s not only Trump with calmer temperament, but his entire handle on COVID in Florida has been a homerun while the likes of Cuomo and Newsom struggle to stay in the Governor’s Mansion due to their people wanting to revolt.

But they can throw all they want at him in 2022. He’s currently up double digits in the early polls.

Not sure about others, but I see a difference between companies that take big govt money/subsides/etc and regular private businesses that dont. Ones that get these benefits to allow themselves to operate, and are provided to service citizens, need to not be putting barriers for citizens to use them based on politics.

Similar to the tech companies that heavily use govt supported infrastructure to operate.
