I have a house in the north end of Boise and I don’t feel like it’s becoming less conservative. The current mayor is a democrat and seems favored to win a second term in November. Boulder and Boise feel very similar to me and I’m in both quite a bit.

From everything I hear, Boise isn't becoming "more conservative". Everything seems to be going more progressive if anything.

That was kinda my point about my cousins though, but I should've actually typed it out. Even in a city in a conservative area that's slowly turning blue, it's not good enough for the hardline communists. They want instant action, instant results and immediate gratification. The extremists like them really aren't much of an immediate threat, but it's the ones willing to be patient and slowly corrupt a system over time that have been the downfall of everything and are the real enemy.

I work with three baby boomer ladies who left Minnesota/Wisconsin for East TN due to politics. Not having to freeze your arse off every winter is probably a plus as well. I’m fascinated by the long term effects of the mass migration to conservative areas during covid. The Left is making their bed going so hard against family values. Sooner or later they will have to lie in it.

Colorado is not that different that hardcore blue states like CA, OR, WA in that if you you look at a county map, it is very red. But it’s blue in the high population areas where it really counts.

It's also an urban vs. suburban thing. The "I had an abortion" woman would not be out of place in downtown Boise or the North End neighborhood, believe it or not.

Edited to add: Ah, our Boise posters have already covered how crazy the North End neighborhood is. But damn, I do like the beer and wine selection at the Co-Op.

And Wutangfinancial: the guy who flies the LSU flag on Harrison Ave. is named Jimmy. I've meant and chatted with him on the trails in the Military Reserve. He was wearing LSU gear out mountain biking one day.

This is fundamental to human behavior. People inherently and even subconsciously - to a degree- prefer to be surrounded by like-minded people.

This is why - even within the melting pot that is the US - you see folks tend to gravitate toward communities who have similar culture and values.

I avoid the north end and state street like the plague. Let them wallow in their own self loathing.

Try the homemade chorizo at the co-op. Thank me later.
