What’s the success rate of theocracies?
Don't know, but I'm not advocating for a theocracy.

A theocracy is essentially a civil government ruled by priests, where the leaders rule both politically and religiously, having say and sway over both the civil and religious laws.

The separation of church and state means that the civil magistrate can't dictate the laws and practices of the Church, which is how a theocracy operates. There is no Constitutional mandate that the laws that we create in this country have to be based on secularism, materialism, pragmatism, or any worldview non-religious in nature. We can certainly have religious justifications for the laws we pass so long as the laws, themselves, do not infringe on the individual's right to religious liberty.

All people should submit to the authority of Christ, whether they are elected officials or not.

But you do realize that prohibiting people from getting divorces won’t keep them together and raising their children together. All it will do is keep them from getting remarried.
I haven't said that I'm in favor of banning all divorces. I'm in favor of banning no-fault divorces.

The consequences of such a policy may involve purposeful adultery or desertion or even perjury to acquire a divorce with fault assigned. In fact, I believe the reason why no-fault divorces were allowed in the first place was so that people wouldn't feel forced to perjure themselves to get a divorce, but I don't normally support a bad or destructive policy in order to prevent negative consequences from breaking the law.

There isn't, and when held as a worldview those are religions anyway according to Webster's. They're just not theistic in nature.

When you join Logcabin Republicans rather than just the Republicans, you're putting your sexuality on display out there.

Why can't these folks just join the Texas republican party rather than a group based upon the bedroom?

The Texas Republican state and local party has affiliated outreach clubs dedicated to just about every group identity you can think of:

-Republican Women
-Republican Asians
-Republican Hispanics/Latinos
-Republican Pakistanis
-Republican African Americans
-Republican African-Africans
-Republicans who live in different neighborhoods

Gays are the ONLY identity group that is specifically prohibited.

A handful of elderly Evangelicals exercise petty power in the activist ranks and are completely out of touch with the vast majority of conservative voters. They believe it is more noble to lose on principle than to accomplish anything constructive.

They probably are. But they want to make the alphabet club a federally protected class, among other things. At some point your agenda differs enough that a group, any group, doesn't want to be seen as endorsing you.

Submit yourself to JAYSUS all you want. It's a great refuge for the weak minded.

I do, and all should, including you.

He's the only refuge there is.

There's also nothing weak minded about the truth. Philosophically speaking, if you reject the truth of the scriptures, you have no ultimate basis for rationality, thus making the "weak minded" insult ironic in its meaninglessness.

The loon evangelical wing of the GOP will always be there to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

This whole story is maddening. I am all for gay rights. I am for small government, and that includes not legislating what people do in their own bedrooms/relationships/marriages.

I don't understand how the Republican party has allowed these evangelicals to take the party the wrong direction. Lower taxes, less regulation, free trade, foreign policy that benefits the US - those should be the tenants of the party. Not religious crusading.
