Ya, this is dumb, but do kids who hear this have to believe it to get a good grade?

I'd just teach my kids about evolution myself and call it a day.

Ann Richards opposed teaching Spanish in public schools

Did she actually oppose the teaching of Spanish, or did she simply oppose having schools generally conducting classes in Spanish? It's hard to imagine anyone being opposed to foreign languages being taught in schools.

Of course Jesus spoke English as a first language, just like he was the only blue-eyed white man within 1000 miles of where he lived. That's in the Bible, dammit!

Now, how did chemicals (which cannot evol)

Not sure what you mean by "chemicals" in this context...

Are you asking if something like acetonitrile (C2H3N) has evolved over time? I don't understand...

So, if there were such a challenge, the thought police would say pretty much what you just said...right?

I lived in Texas for six years when I was younger. Other than overwhelming summer heat, I loved it.

Many scientific theories are altered or disproved. I don't think evolution will be one of those though.

That quote is attributed to Miriam Ferguson, and even the validity of that is in question. It's got nothing to do with Ann Richards. More idiot drivel from the dregs of the internet, better known as the TigerDroppings Political board.

Miriam Ferguson was governor of Texas in the 1920s and 30s.

Probably lots of people around the country had those same feelings in the early 1900s. You know, cuz it was almost 100 years ago. I bet this crazy bitch didn't even believe in dark matter.

This is incredibly rare and hasn't happened during modern history. And most often the initial theory describes a phenomenon very well but it fails at much larger or smaller scales than it was designed for. See Newtonian physics and quantum mechanics.

Disprove? Unlikely.

But altered, or at least refined, seems almost certain as we gather more information. Although, you probably met something more broad than that, which I would agree.

On Wednesday, the board voted along party lines to reinstate most of the language the committee wanted gone, requiring students to learn about the complexity of cells, the origin of life and abrupt appearance and stasis in fossil records. Some of the Democratic board members suggested that the move would invite teachings of creationism or intelligent design into the classroom. LIKE US ON FACEBOOK: Our Lone Star Politics page brings Capitol news to your Facebook feed Barbara Cargill, R-The Woodlands, proposed amendments to reinstate the language. Each curriculum standard she proposed required students to learn the scientific explanations behind biological events, which she said was intended to root out teachings of creationism.

Both sides are in error

Mankind, as we know it today didn't evolve. Created as cited in Scripture.

Creationists are in error as Scripture is not, nor has it ever, sought to explain the age and/or history of civilizations.

Scripture is a record of God's work with mankind as we know it today, period.

Mankind as we know him to be today is relatively young.
The Earth and cosmos are a kazillion years old.

Both sides are correct and both sides are in error.

Education in the Lone Star State is just fine, thank you very much

Liberals are so open minded and so tolerant aren't they.

Crawl your arse out of your box and give places like Lubbock, Tyler or Seguin a try.

Lots of LSU fans around too.
