Because musk said he wants to take Tesla private at $420/share and already has the money to do it. He better do it or he’s going to get in some trouble for artificially driving the stock up.

Tesla has not yet made the $35,000 base model of the car available for purchase yet.

If it really was a secret I would not have known about it.

By "secret" it's obvious I meant it's not something Musk likes to talk about because it's a negative indicator of the Model 3's production numbers.

It was already way up before today’s statement.

It seems like there are many forces acting against Tesla/Musk (and not just short sellers who hold about 20% of outstanding shares which is ridiculously high), the general finance media seems ready to pounce as well. I know he brings some of it on himself but still.
