Who did they hate if not the darkies?
Not a fan of the pope or his followers.

Here's a novel thought.
It isn't anybody else's business outside of Tennessee residents.
Ah, States rights. That whole other side of the coin of the Civil War, where at least 70% that fought didn't own slaves. But hey, we've got $20,000,000,000,000 in debt and live in a country of almost complete centralized power now where all of us are constantly spied on. Good times.

Bill Lee with the pandering. Forrest would be appalled himself to be honest.

End of speech.1 Nathan Bedford Forrest again thanked Miss Lewis for the bouquet and then gave her a kiss on the cheek. Such a kiss was unheard of in the society of those days, in 1875, but it showed a token of respect and friendship between the general and the black community and did much to promote harmony among the citizens of Memphis

Robert E. Lee Day, Confederate Decoration Day and Nathan Bedford Forrest Day have been special days of observation in the state since 1969
Not the least bit of a shock there.

How does burning crosses and lynching people accomplish this?

My most admired military man of all. Anyone that just takes this man as current society labels him is a fool. The man lived in a time that was not held to the standards of today. Slavery was an institution that goes back since the beginning of human advancement. It's wrong, no matter who it is, we get it now. But in his time most of the world still practiced it. I cannot believe that amount of revisionist judgement that is going on in today's society. Should we go back and change every sports achievement in history based on the current rules applied in the present? Nathan Bedford Forest bled for what he thought was right and he did it with a tenacity that is unmatched. Yet Sherman is heralded as a hero and he burned homes of non combatants and terrorized American civilians. Nathan Bedford Forest led his men into battle and bled with them. Anyone that discounts his achievements is simply small minded and lazy. Also on the Kkk note again this was something that happened after the war and he quit when it became something different than it was meant to be. People that shame NBF and any Confederate often support Palestine and muslim country's that call for the death of Jews. At some point people in this country need to start thinking for themselves and decide what is real and truthful and quit listening to biased agenda driven voices that tell them what is right. The civil war was a defining moment for this country and every single one of the union and Confederate soldiers were more American than most people today. It's a shame that we now have decided to judge people who died for this country so horribly.

Okay, you’re an idiot, I get it. As long as you realize defending bs like this in 2019 is why you see the identity politics you do all the time.

A giant wall of text about NBFs life and accomplishments boils down to this:
How much do you like Jews?
What a sick sick sick society we have.
