The President of Victory Christian Academy, Pastor Jesse Latta, sent us this statement regarding the assignment:

quote:

“There was an assignment given, as I understand you have received a copy. It was taken out of an online teacher resource and has been used in many schools. There were certainly no bad intentions with this assignment. When a parent contacted our teacher with a complaint, our teacher immediately sent out correspondence to all parents in the class to assure them that there were no bad intentions with this assignment and to clarify the guidelines. No additional concerns were presented to the teacher. While the assignment was completely innocent, out of an abundance of caution and for there to be no misunderstandings, our administration has removed this particular assignment for any future use. We value our children and their safety is our top priority. We will continue to serve the children and families in which the Lord has graciously allowed us to have a part in their lives.”

Teacher Requests Photos of Children in Bath Tub as Homework Assignment
This is an odd story, written in an odd way.

It sounds like the assignment was part of a "take pictures of yourself reading in silly places" series. It also sounds like the kids were instructed to wear either pajamas or their school uniform for the picture. Sounds like despite the complaining parent being aware of that, she decided to go full "Karen" and call the sheriff. But the way the story is written leaves those facts murky.

Read in the tub assignment ...

Apparently there's even a National Read in the Bathtub Day

Point of interest, are Fox and CBS affiliated with each other in Jax? There are several markets that do that here in FL. In my market, Fox and ABC are owned by the same company and sometimes swap on air talent, even. It is weird, though

Not really weird or strange.

Just because a local station is affiliated with Fox or ABC, that doesn’t make them a “Fox” or “ABC” station.

It’s just a way for a company to get more money in that area. Sell advertisements on two separate stations. The FCC loophole for this is one of them has to be a substation of the other. I.e. antenna channel 9.1 for the main and 9.whatever for the sub channel.

Most of the instances that I’ve seen with this are remnants of a company getting bought out or merging. If…say Nextar…buys out a competitor and all of their stations, any market that ends with Nextar having two stations in that market means they’ll either need to sell one or turn it into a subchannel.

Being a Fox or ABC affiliate has very little to do with that type of news content(bias). The company that owns the station has much more of an impact on how they air the news than the affiliate.

Every single person in this thread calling for execution over this should be publicly mocked for stupidity and lack of critical thinking.

Read the article and look at the teacher and school. Think about context; this is not about taking naked pictures of the kids, this is about doing silly things with homework. The parents themselves are taking the pictures, the kids are fully clothed. It’s a silly assignment to add some levity for the class.

The school absolutely did the right thing with expelling the student. This was about a Karen who was intentionally trying to get the reaction you all made and fell for.

It’s very likely this was the end of a long series of incidents where this mom was trying to stir up drama, likely with this specific teacher. It sucks for the student, but this kind of bullshite should be rewarded with exactly this outcome.

And I was ridiculed and made fun of because my parents decided to home school me from 2nd-8th grade. I was told I would never develop the 'social' skills necessary to 'fit in'. Thank God my parents saw through the bull shite and peer pressure and knew what was right for me.

What I hate the most is that innocent child felt something was off about the assignment and did the right thing and spoke up to her parents and she is the one getting punished by being kicked out of school. This is what happens when a system is completely taken over by the disgusting liberal left.

Just silly stupid shite

But did it say not to be naked? School is at fault for being tone deaf in this current climate. What if your kid got in the bath naked and asked you to take a picture to send to the teacher as a part of an assignment? Kid doesn't know, parent reads very basic instructions provided, so yeah it's obvious the parents guard is now up. The school was then oblivious to "why" this parent would be upset, so instead they kicked the kid out of the school, instead of finding fault in themselves.

Many Christians have a problem with connecting evil to things, because they stay away from evil the best they can. They become naive since they haven't let their minds process evil. Not saying it's a bad thing, it's great, but unfortunately it is a way the Devil takes advantage of them.

If I'm not an idiot, I'd guess correctly that my 2nd grader misunderstood what they were supposed to do.

I do personally think this is wrong. But if you read the article it makes it seems so much worse then the story factually consisted of.

In pajamas in a bathtub with no water, fully clothed, doing assigned reading. It is a fun way to get kids who don't read to read.

Almost all the local stations in the country are owned by big companies like Nexstar Media and Gray Television now. It’s pretty common to see sister stations that are two different big fours. For example in Monroe, La. the local CBS (KNOE) and local ABC (KAQY) are both owned by Gray Television and use the same website and have their local news crews work back and forth for both stations. The Fox and NBC stations up there are owned by Nexstar and it’s the same way. Your local stations are hardly ever really local anymore and a lot of times end up having to tow the line of the corporate opinion.

What stupid S.O.B. would grant a wierd request like this?
In today's world, if you complied with the teacher's wishes on this subject, you should have your child taken away and placed with real adults who deserve the child!
