Well, the goal should be to move away from income tax. We can offset it with tariffs.
The government owes me way more than $2k though.

Are you sure that Trump isn't still a Democrat?
I'll bet you $2,000 that inflation doesn't reach Biden levels.

I thought I read somewhere that $2,000 stimuluses for lower and middle folks would actually have a higher price tag than the amount of money collected thus far from increased tariffs.
IF that's the case, then what the heck will be leftover for "substantial" pay down of the debt?

Wouldn't this be classified as a tax return, at least to some on this board?

Imagine $2000 being in any way meaningful.

Why?

The tariff income is incidental to these urgent goals – not the underlying reason for their application. In fact, as I have said many times, as the terms of trade are made more fair, U.S. manufactured items will replace imported goods. Tariff revenues will shrink, and U.S. domestic tax receipts will surge.

It is to ALOT of working/middle class people. Hell, it is, or should be, meaningful for upper middle class too.
I was billed $2k the other day for work one of our vehicles.

I don’t expect I’d receive this, but that would certainly help with my property tax that is due every September.
