Sweden closes its last Confucius Institute

Sweden has closed the last remaining Confucius Institute in the country as relations with China deteriorate further amid the coronavirus pandemic, The Times of London reported on Thursday.
The Chinese government in 2004 launched Confucius institutes at various foreign universities, with the stated goal of promoting Chinese language and culture. However, U.S. officials have stated that the institutes are a propaganda tool meant to enhance China’s “soft power.”
There are 86 Confucius Institutes currently operating in the U.S., including at elite institutions such as Stanford University and Tufts University. Former FBI director Christopher Wray testified to Congress in 2019 that the institutes “offer a platform to disseminate Chinese government or Chinese Communist Party propaganda, to encourage censorship, to restrict academic freedom.”

Do we have one at LSU? Those things are straight up are extensions of the chinese government. They monitor chinese nationals out of them, they spread propaganda, they spy on university research programs.

I think Sweden/china relationship was sour already before this pandemic. China kidnapped a swede citizen for selling books speaking out against Xi. Dude got 10 years in a Chinese prison. Then there's that Chinese tourist incident at the hotel.

frick China. If any good comes from this virus I hope it’s the realization that China is the evil empire and the developed world needs to cut all ties with them.
They do not have our best interests at heart. They do not respect our institutions. They are passively siphoning off our and Europe’s wealth and seeking to impose their communist authoritarian beliefs in place of our free republics or democracies.
