GOP Sen. Susan Collins, a pivotal vote in confirming Pres. Trump's SCOTUS nominee, says a justice who would overturn Roe v. Wade would "not be acceptable."
"That would indicate an activist's agenda that I don't want to see a judge have"
Duh.
You would be a fool to think she's not speaking for other moderate republicans who are afraid to say this.
With McCain out, democrat need only just one republican to sink the nominee.
It's math. I've always said the GOP will never confirm anyone who wants to overturn Roe. You're a fool if you believe otherwise.

The only folks that are saying this are Democrats
Any Republican that actually believes it'll be overturned is lying to themselves.

Great. Thanks. What nominee is admitting that at a hearing?

DJT said on the campaign trail that he's not interested in overturning RvW. Even if liberals were going to pick something to lose their minds over, the POTUS who's fulfilling practically every campaign promise isn't likely going to deviate from course on this one.
His interview with Maria Bartiromo today underscores that.

Any nominee should just refuse to answer questions about this. It’s a ridiculous red herring.
Notice how the same litmus test isn’t applied against progressive nominated SCJ regarding 2A?

If you like your abortions you can keep them.
Maybe.
Maybe.

Progressive SCJs don’t have any litmus test, because Dems are always lockstep as a party

It's not just saying it out loud at a hearing, it's also having a history of hostility to Roe in past opinions, public statements and various published documents.
It's for that reason why someone like Will Pryor is a non starter after he called Roe an abomination and a monstrosity.

The left is targeting her. Not surprising.
Nominee has some dancing to do with intense questioning.

Overturn it and send it back to the states if they want to murder babies or not.

Agreed.
And it's why he's not on the final list.

Which it is.
The only reason New Englanders like Collins are Republicans is that historically, the hired help were Democrats.

Wonder how she feels about many liberal justices on the 9th circuit..
Would love to see if she crossed party lines to vote in any of Obama’s nominees to federal benches.

Did she vote for Sotomayor? If so, then not wanting an activist is a crock of shite
Posted on 7/1/18 at 3:58 pm to Magician2
Just as I expected, she voted yes to Sotomayor

Out of curiosity. Would any judge who openly says he would support Roe Vs. Wade be an activist judge?
But, fwiw, I doubt they do, either. I wish they would, but I doubt they do. If that is the case, they need to find someone who is conservative in their other leanings. I am mainly concerned that they get someone who can interpret the law and apply it as the Constitution outlines, and not somebody who tries to write law according to their own agenda.

Unless Manchin, Heitkamp, Donnelly, and Casey cross over in the other direction. Casey is unapologetically pro-life and all four are up for reelection in MAGA states.
If they vote in lockstep with Schumer, they risk being voted out in November and Trump gets a nominee through next year.

Guess what?
No judge is going to say one way or the other you stupid c.u.n.t.
BTW, it was the judicial activism you abhor that resulted in that travesty.
