Summer 2019 would be best for the great Justice Thomas to step down and enjoy retirement

It would allow Justice Thomas to finish this term.

He would then be able to step down and enjoy his much deserved retirement with dignity after being a public servant since 1981.

It will allow Our President to nominate a worthy conservative, Federalist Society backed, late 40s/early 50s judge to replace him and continue his legacy.

Doing it in 2019 would be best. Waiting till 2020 would be awful because of the precedent of not confirming justices during a presidential election year. I have no doubt that Our President will be re-elected, but I think now is the time for him to get his third Supreme Court pick as he will likely get subsequent picks in his second term.

Justice Thomas has been on the Court for almost 28 years. It's time.

Maybe, but that should be entirely up TO Justice Thomas. He's an American hero and deserves to write his own ending.

He deserves some time to watch some righteous porn.

I remember watching that confirmation bullshite in high school, my God, has it been that long?

Thomas needs to enjoy himself, he's earned it.

I get he's a hero, I believe that. But he's not some random congressman, he's a Supreme Court justice and it's not just about him, it's about the future of American jurisprudence and constitutional interpretation.

Well obviously Thomas is more likely to voluntarily retire during a Trump Presidency than RBG.

No conservative law maker will ever enjoy retirement as long as Maxine waters has anything to say about it.

He's one of the greatest justices of all time. Selfishly, I hope he stays for another 10 years.

I think he knows the situation and doesn't want to RBG it. If he wants another Thomas this may be his last chance

I feel pretty confident she will be announcing next year in a naked political move to get the vote out for the Dems in 2020.

She SHOULD be above that as a sitting SC justice but it is the smart move for the left and she has never been above entering the political fray sadly.

Any respect she may have earned over a lifetime of jurisprudence was destroyed in an instant by her 2016 comments about a POTUS candidate.
