All these school kids are protesting for gun control and against the NRA 'cause it's the cool thing to do. Some of them just want a reason to get out of class (we know, we were students once).
Maybe a small percentage of them are sincere but if they really wanted to cut down on school shootings, etc. they would call for a ban on video games that promote killing and violence. Some of the nutcases out there today cannot separate reality from a video game and that's part of the problem, also.
And some of them probably aren't for stricter gun laws anyhow. The media only highlights the ones who echo the Democrats' wishes to stir shite in this country.
The NRA didn't fail the school in Florida. The staff at that high school and the resource officer failed them. And just about everyone in local government failed them.
So get off of the back of the NRA. This group is not the villains. Ever watch Red Dawn?

Haven’t studied shown that video games aren’t that much of a factor in this?

Essentially every study has shown no link between video games and violence.

One statistic I saw (source not readily at hand) was that a large majority of school shooters are not active video gamers.

Back in the early 80's the teachers in Baton Rouge were lobbying for a raise. The city/state didn't want to give them a raise.

So the teachers went on strike. A lot of parents kept their kids home from school in support of the teachers.

I was in middle school and didn't know anything about the issues. But better believe I was 100% in support of that strike and was thrilled to hear it dragged on for 2 weeks. We all got 2 weeks off from school in early spring and it was epic.

After the strike ended the school board talked about making up those two weeks. But it never happened.

My point is, kids will support anything that will get them a vacation from school.

I mean, some are very sincere. Of course there are some doing it for the reasons you stated.

Just out of curiosity, what was the alternative other than keeping them home? If it was sending them to school where they were crowed into a few classrooms or gym, and watched by school administrators, I would rather keep them home too instead of sending them there to twiddle their thumbs.

Well neither are law abiding gun owners and the NRA. But they are getting drug through the mud. Let’s expand the blame a lil.

Yes. The "video games, profane music, and violent movies are causing mass violence" nonsense is bunk.

Maybe, maybe not. I don't think you're in a position to doubt that sincerity though
