"I think it’s the media," Minoff said, referring to whom he believes is promoting the gun control narrative in response to the shooting. "They exploit everything to make it political. They’re more concerned about gun control at this moment rather than the fact that there were 17 people that were killed."

Minoff, who hopes to meet President Donald Trump to discuss the issue, said that he thinks there should be limits and restrictions on guns but is upset to see how the media is covering the tragedy.

"It pains me to see that knowing that 17 of my classmates are dead and they just want to talk about gun control," he continued. "Students have opinions, they say stuff that they’re against guns, and that gun control is necessary, but they’re making it bigger than it needs to be at this moment."

When asked if lawmakers should aim to pass more legislation to try to prevent tragedies like this from occurring in the future, he said that if lawmakers do pass legislation it needs to be something that is effective and "helpful" at fixing the situation, but added, "I don’t know how effective that is."

"You can’t drink until you’re 21, but that doesn't stop kids from drinking," he noted. "I don’t know if there is a way to stop it. There is a way around anything."

Minoff said that he "definitely" thinks that schools should have armed security guards, a comment he made while discussing football coach and security guard Aaron Feis, who was killed as he shielded students from the shooter.

"If coach Feis would have had a gun or any of the other security guards would have had a gun it definitely would have been less fatal," he said. "[The shooter] and coach Feis were face-to-face and he just shielded kids instead of having the ability to kill the shooter."

If one of these teachers had a gun against the rules and shot this bozo and saved a bunch of kids would he have gotten in trouble?

I don't see how you could tell someone to teach public school and not let them bring a gun. Not for protection from school shooters but for protection against the regular students. I've seen YouTube videos

I was thinking there have to be quite a few kids thinking "Why do those assholes think they represent all of us?"

sometimes referred to as the "Lisa Beamer effect"

Yeah if a student threatens a teacher they need to have a gun pulled to their head. Also, what makes you so sure that a teacher would accurately shoot the gunman and not another student? It's just ludicrous that you think that that would solve the problem

This kid has a better chance of finding the Ark of the Covenant than a camera.

Well dumbass, since the coach was standing 5 fricking feet away from him he would have had a pretty God damned good shot at it.

Oh okay because he would have been carrying his gun around and would have been able to unholster it in the moment very quickly and shoot the guy. You're the fricking dumbass here, moron

This kid gives me a bit of hope. Unlike every other proggy on this board, he understands second and third order effects.

The teachers don't have to pull. You'd be surprised at what a calming, peaceful effect on nearby people that a well placed open carry has

Yes fear as it turns out is a good motivator. But that's not the way that we should live our lives. This isn't the wild west and people shouldn't just have guns in schools. Adding more guns doesn't solve the problem.

Only if it's a SIG P320 nestled betwixt the ample derriere or bosom of a rather comely lass.

It's not about fear, open carry denotes the presence of law and order, much like the old west 6 pointed sheriff badge. The public school kids that want to learn know that they can read their coloring books and watch movies in peace without fear of getting beat up or sold drugs by the knuckle heads
