The challenges our teachers face and we wonder why they want to be teachers. I can not imagine what this will look like in a decade if something is not done about it now.

After all, education is a key component to our societal foundation!!

Just a matter of society finally saying “enough”. Always has been.

But society is so conditioned and cowed-down into not speaking out because of being labeled.

So, here we are as the tail continues to violently wag the dog.

from the article:

But the school district recorded 46 incidents of students assaulting school staff in the last academic year.

Public schools are nothing but day cares at this point.

It is sad. The whole system is broken. No Child Left Behind did nothing but pull the average down to the bottom and pull the top down to the average.

There needs to be away to remove the students from the school that don't want to be there and the parents have no interest in those kids education. Schools need to be buildings of learning not teaching how to behave. Until that changes, schools are doomed.

Can't teach when you can't discipline kids. Can't disciple kids because alternative schools are full and admin has no where to put them. So minor infractions don't get processes and major infractions just end up in In School Suspension or 3 days out then right back in the classroom.

It is a huge issue that needs fixing but nothing will be done about it. Good teachers are leaving the field and being replaced by unqualified warm bodies which just multiplies the problems.

It would not take many prosecutions to bring this nonsense to a stop.

Public Schools have become, for the most part, centers of indoctrination. It is a shame.

If he's a teenager, he needs a lengthy prison sentence.

...and whomever is raising him should lose all current and future parental/guardianship rights of any and all children.

A secure custody order was issued against the boy on Tuesday for one count of communicating threats and two counts of misdemeanor assault.

DA Jim O'Neill said he could not be charged as an adult because the charges only amount to a misdemeanor so they cannot be brought to superior court.

But he warned students that they face the same consequences for attacking teachers as they would for assaulting police officers.

Shouldn't have been misdemeanors. He should have been hit with two felonies.

Doesn't matter. He'll probably be dead within a year or two anyway.

I admit that I assumed "assault upon a teacher" was a felony in NC, as is the case in Texas. Penal Code 22.01(b).. Given the discipline problems in many schools, it would not be unreasonable for other legislatures to consider upgrading that offense.

Luckily Louisiana’s school Choice bill will allow such upstanding young men to now be in class with your kids!

That would be impossible since the only way for him to produce a son is to have sex with an actual female.

And they’ll say homeschooling is bad for the student.
