And it’s not there to run the country, Re putting gas in your car so you can drive to the lake or work, it’s there to run the military in case if war. There was gas rationing during WWII

How are we losing money if we intend to fill it up for less than what we sold it for?

How in this specific instance when selling in the $80-120 range and setting the buy back trigger at $70 is the US going to lose $$$?

We should have our oil imports hit record highs while drawing down the SPR to record levels
And then vote Dim again

Simple math.
We filled it for $30/bbl.
POTATUS* intends to try and refill it for $70/bbl.
He did not sell it off at more than an average of $110/bbl.
Therefore, the American taxpayer is losing money.
I guess it is hard to understand for some people, and that does not take into account that this dumbass, illegitimate usurper in the White House has crippled our domestic energy production when we were energy independent the day he squatted in the White House.
We no longer are.
End of discussion.

quote:SPR is for when we can't do that. It was never intended to be used to lower fuel prices. Not one sensible decision that Biden has made during his terror reign did anything but destroy the industry - on purpose!
We still produce oil and gas in this country daily so not sure why it needs to be bigger.

It was posted here some time ago that Trump filled the spr for $20 or so per gallon and Biden was paying $70.
This shite sucks.

I worked at the SPR headquarters (IT) in the 80’s. We never had a drawdown and the capacity was much smaller than today. The caverns were being leached into what it is today. If a drawdown was to be ordered, that oil would go to the military for a 30 day supply. It was garbage oil quality imported.

So we bought at $30, sold at $110 and refill at $70.
100 bbl.
Filled at 30 ($3,000).
Sold 110 $11,000
Up $8,000
Refill 70 ($7,000)
You’re up $1,000
I don’t understand how selling high and buying lower results in a (loss).

So the whole Biden debacle taught me the SPR only has enough oil to run the country for like 2 months before its tapped.
I have to ask: in what scenario does no other country - mostly bought and owned by large international oil companies - sell us oil?
I think it's important to have more domestic production, but there really isn't a doomsday scenario wherein Chevron or Texaco or Exxon cannot get oil from point A to point USA.
