If you think Desantis won't get the Trump treatment, you are high on crack.
So frigging what. Do you honestly believe he’ll respond in remotely the same way??

THIS. DeSantis is way more politically savvy to fall for the traps that Trump was falling for

Are you reallly going back 60 years? Reagan was governor of Cali, that pretty much assured his victory. Thats not happening in todays electorate
Or put another way the 2 of the last 4 republican presidents lost their first primary prior to becoming the nominee
Also he was governor of California before the first primary and he lost. He was not in office at the time of the second primary

He is.
He's been saying since last October he will be running for reelection for governor of Florida to fight off the CRT movement in his state.
Are you saying he will run even if he actually doesn't?

DeSantis will win the 2024 primaries.
Then Trump will run 3rd party (you are kidding yourself if you think he won't) handing the WH to Biden/Kamala/Mayor Pete/whoever.

Don't know about his ego by comparison, but clearly things are aligned in his favor. Long time till primary season, lot can happen.

Stop thinking DeSantis won't run in 2024
Ben Shapiro said on the DW Backstage show recently that he was told by multiple people close to DeSantis in Florida politics that he's running for President in 2024 even if Trump is, as long as he wins his Governor's race.
Ron's wife has been relentlessly pushing him to run for President behind the scenes, too.
He's running.

He will, and he already has, but there are some distinctions:
1. DeSantis is much smarter than Trump. He doesn't constantly fall into the predictable traps set by the media.
2. His message discipline is very good. He doesn't say stupid shite and he keeps his eyes on the ball. He focus on the issues at hand. Trump's message discipline is mediocre, and he'll spend the entire 2024 primary debates trying to relitigate an election that has been over for 4 years. We have pressing issues NOW. Frick the past.
3. He's much more articulate and persuasive than Trump when it comes to his arguments. He turned Florida from a swing state into a red state. He was called "DeathSantis" and Florida was the "petri dish" of COVID, yet people from all over the country are moving down there. Not only that, but people from blue states are voting Republican in Florida. He isn't failing like Trump did in 2020 with his message or people like Ducey, Abbott, and Kemp are with people from blue states moving into their states and continuing to vote Democrat. DeSantis' approval rating is 56% in Florida, a swing state.
4. He doesn't alienate voters, particularly in the suburbs, who historically vote Republican. In 2016 and 2020 there were over 5 million people who voted for at least 1 down-ballot Republican that didn't vote for Trump. He underperformed Republicans in nearly every single suburban county in nearly every single state.
5. He has nowhere near the baggage that Trump does, and he won't be nearly 80 in 2024.
