You don’t think there have been very smart Christians in history?

Mostly because y'all burned people alive if they didn't pretend to believe.

Stop changing the goal posts.

Many of the greatest scientists in history were very open about their strong faith

There is nothing stopping a Christian from being interested in the world around them. In fact, early biology was influenced by the belief that god could be discovered through his works, not just his words

Google if you are interested

The facts are on my side

Many of the greatest scientific minds in history were men of faith

To deny that is asinine

Why is it so impossible to name some of them?

It's like pulling teeth.

So is this a man that atheists basically now hold higher than any other being in the history of the world? Is that an incongruous question? I mean I'm not putting a god-like status on him, personally. I'm asking because what he claimed to be true about space-time, and the supernatural are essentially the journals of the atheistic book of reason, if you will.

If Dr. Hawking said there is no God and he's infallible in his calculation, doesn't this make him something of a god, himself? He didn't "think" he knew, and he knew with certainty, when asked this question. If he is correct, then he certainly isn t your average Joe, and his claim would be considered, miraculous, which is a term that can't be defined in the natural world, no pun intended, of course.

Just curious as to how hypothetical brainstorming has led most atheists to consider Hawking's work to be the authoritative, be-all end-all, when they claim that is the very reason faith based beliefs don't gel with them. That seems like faith in something.

RIP..I hope Stephen is well.

Where are you getting your facts? The existence of Jesus is considered hardly debatable by historians. He almost certainly did exist.

Stephen Hawking had no influence on my agnosticism and frankly I think you're giving Hawking too much credit.

I'm not giving him credit myself, they are. People that have read his books know what he was about.

My point is that unless you believe that atheists are some uber-educated class, they are probably familiar with the actual writings of Hawking at a rate comparable to the general population which makes:

has led most atheists to consider Hawking's work to be the authoritative, be-all end-all

bullshite.
