What I find humorous in this whole thing is that it won't help 'race relations' but harm it.
I'm 36. Never owned a slave. Never lived during segregation. Never thought a black was any different from me really.
The statues are about history, good or bad...but still history.
But this nonsense now makes me wonder what is the end game here? And even though I can guess the endgame, I wonder how smart this move is?
Because it does nothing but keep moving the goal posts toward 'reputations' for nothing I did.
In fact, I now have to see this news and get a pissed off feeling about this nonsense.
This isn't a melt. It's a gfy you stupid idiots. I ain't got time for this stupid shite.
The left has lost their minds. I'm ready to take them head on at this point.

The article says that along with the Robert E. Lee statue, also coming down are statues to Confederate Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard at the City Park entrance near Esplanade Avenue and the statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in Mid-City.
I understand why there would be a P.G.T. Beauregard statue in New Orleans. He was from New Orleans. But why would New Orleans have a statue of Lee and Davis? Wtf do they have to do with New Orleans?

I have heard that one statue will be of Obama's "Cousin Pookie" finally getting the piece of the pie.

So what are the stupid frickers going to vandalize next time they worked up about something?
Starbucks seems to have become a favored target lately. We all know about their unabashed, unapologetic support for President Trump and the right.

So, they'll be replaced with statues of people living underneath overpasses, aggressive panhandlers and people firing / driving indiscriminately into crowds?

What circle are we meeting at for Mardi Gras next year?

Thanks Van Jones.

I know, man. Vandalizing Tivoli Circle by putting a Lee statue in the middle of it will be hard to top.
I wonder if Philippe II owned slaves. We know about Code Noir, so it might be safe to assume he did. It's obvious now that "New Orleans" itself is racist, and needs a new name.

This should be amusing.
I'm sure a bust of Al Sharpton's big pumpkin head will be te eventual choice.

It will still be Lee Circle, but the word "Spike" will be added. Sounds pretty good to me.... Spike Lee Circle. Win-win, and not confusing at all. He would be honered because of his "When the Levees Broke" documentary.

since we are keeping up with the times. Why not tear down that hidious old run down french quarter and put on some nice new condos and shopping centers. A Dave and Busters would be nice along with a Red Lobster.

What's going to happen is the Lee statue is going to be taken down and you're going to be just fine with it other than the occasional melt. Right?
Posted on 3/7/17 at 9:07 am to ballscaster
Guess technically you are right. Everyone will live. So if that's the route we go then let's change everything. Why Preserve the quarter?
