Yeah I wonder that, too.

Maybe we can petition trump to step in to stop this nonsense.

That's the thing you arse, it's not just your city.
I know. My voice counts just as much as everyone else's. And a majority of voters put in place a city council that wants to get rid of the statues. Good thing we don't have any "activist judges" to get in the way of the people's will.
If there's enough of you guys, feel free to elect council members who can put them back up.

That's right man, you people have priorities!

I wonder if mitch realizes that Beauregard did more for blacks after the war than mitch has done his entire life?

Good. Statues celebrating treason to the United States of America should should be taken down.
Posted on 3/6/17 at 6:55 pm to MorgusTheMagnificent
The rest of the state should just boycott NOLA till the statues are put back up.

Unfortunately I'm not eligible. Instead, I'll elect to no longer visit NOLA twice a year with friends from metro Omaha. Won't take long for word to spread.

The people who built, shaped and kept this city going for hundreds of years don't have a vote, but at one time they voted to have these monuments as tribute to the thousands of family members that perished defending their state's rights.
These statues were never a problem until some whacked out kid massacred people in ANOTHER STATE and he had freaking pictures of a Confederate Flag on social fricking media. Bitch Landrieu decided to introduce outrage in NOLA and here we are. Time to do to him what we did to his fatass Washington, DC residing sister.

Unfortunately, 'Ol Bitch has the political muscle to have them brought down.

Can't wait to see the names change, old FQ street names, building names, strip New Orleans and turn it into a generic shitcity.

Um, NOT a nuclear sub and that was like in the 50's.
This whole issue reminds me of when USC stopped displaying OJ's Hiesman Trophy. If I can witness NOLA tearing down The Robert E Lee Theatre then I can witness them tearing down the circle. Bigger fish to fry IMO.

Which books will they burn first after the monuments are down?
My bet is Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer.

Is this the thread where we shite on southern generals but excuse the 90% of northern generals who not only were horrible at their jobs, but were generally supportive of slavery?
Almost every military historian agrees that it is beyond belief that the war wasn't over within 2 years. There is a reason lincoln fired 4 generals.

More and more these petty monuments to ignorance will be wiped out. Even Trump is a bump in the road.

5 years ago you had no problem with the statues. Not until you got your marching orders did you care about that.
