Starbucks is closing its New Orleans flagship coffee shop on the corner of Canal Street and St. Charles Avenue, citing concerns over security and the safety of its employees.
The Seattle-based chain said Thursday that the store, which was opened with great fanfare just nine years ago, would close permanently on Oct. 2. It is located on the ground floor of the historic building at 700 Canal Street owned by The Pickwick Club.

That’s the middle of the CBD next to One Shell Square. That should be a wake up call for Latoya but she isn’t going to listen.

It's the Whitney Hancock building now. I was there yesterday and I am here to tell the tale.

Nope.
Not to minimize the dangerousness of the city, or the impact of this Starbucks closing, but it’s on Canal, which has become a real shite-show, not Poydras.

Correct. I’m staying @ Poydras and Camp now. Not doing a lot of walking around after 9pm. But not as bad as Canal just a few blocks over.

They are closing stores in urban centers across the nation because they are afraid to limit toilet access to paying customers.

The irony here that a smug, woke, progressive company is closing down it's newest/biggest store in downtown NOLA citing security concerns is borderline fricking hilarious.
The purple haired, nose ring, pompous workers who get pissy when you say "Large" vs. "Venti" can't handle black people committing violent crimes, rapes and murders? Well frick me sideways, who ever saw that coming?

fricking weak take. Also, frick off. Odds are you get your gas from us or processed by us. You're welcome.
So dumb when shitdicks say this stuff yet live in a place that gets hit with tornados, deep freezes, droughts, flooding, fires, earthquakes, etc.
Every location has issues. This is seriously a shite take and if you said it to someone down here, you'd get your arse whipped.

Why they closing? All they have to do is fly first class to Paris and back. Then they are safe.

But New Orleans doesn't need beat cops, it needs detectives!
