Members loyal to Scalise have urged him to have a candid discussion with McCarthy about his inability to unify the conference, while McCarthy’s allies have urged him to line up the president’s support so it’s ready at a moment’s notice. Some neutral parties think Scalise has the inside track—that Trump’s backing won’t be enough to put him over the top, and that Scalise’s already-high stock has skyrocketed since he survived an assassination attempt in June.

I'll pull my pants down in this office and rub one out if this happens.

Didn't you already do that after the Iron Bowl?

Let’s see if Scalise can keep from getting the Bob Livingston treatment.
We already had one presumptive Speaker from CD1. Let’s hope he’s kept it in his pants unlike Bob.

We are in terrific shape from that ever happening. He doesn't carry the Bob Livingston or David Vitter baggage.

Expect the bogus issue of his asscociation with and support by white supremacists to resurface, even though Cedric Richmond had dismissed claims that Scalise is a racist.

As much as I would like Scalise to be Speaker, I'm not under any illusions about what he would have to do to keep the Republicans in line and making some deals with the other side.....it's what Speakers do(for the most part).
I'll predict if he becomes Speaker, that within 18 months all of you "Conservatives" will be calling for his head as the realities of governing and leadership settle in.
You guys are like petulant children, you want things, but you are not terribly sure you really know what you want or what getting it means

According to the Conservative Review Score Card it would be an upgrade from a F to a D. I feel Brat, Massie, Gohmert, Jordan, Meadows would be a more conservative choice.

It’s addition by subtraction by replacing Ryan.
The interesting part will be seeing who replaces Scalise as the majority whip.

Four guys who would rather preen for the cameras than actually do anything substantive or for that matter govern.
