My educated friends don't vote for Trump for reasons having nothing to do with Charlottesville. I doubt most of them even know/remember what that was

THAT was much more the point of the actual comment than anything to do with Charlottesville

Did they?

Do we know the breakdown of how much money the snitches kept and how much flowed to their racist groups?

No. I didn't say that.

You are right now that I think back on it. I did have an incorrect retelling. Your Charlottesville comment wasn’t about your professional friends voting for Trump.

What you said was that supporting Trump could never be “cool” because of Charlottesville.

What do we think he’d estimate his own IQ at? 130? 135?

That's not even true.

The largest impact on Charlottesville was the attack on online platforms that it created. And this wasn't even governmental-regulatory. Charlottesville is when advertisers online started pulling ads from platforms and causing online platforms to respond to keep the business. This is when you saw Youtube and Twitter really change and demonetization started ramping up dramatically for content.

Google even changed its search algorithm in response, making most message board posts less indexed and harder to search. The theory being this would make it harder for impressionable kids to find extremist content, to keep their ad buyers happy and unassociated with that content.

THAT was the real impact of Charlottesville.

Well that group has a min IQ of 130 (we are all identified gifted in Louisiana, which has a minimum 130 IQ). I'm considered one of the smarter ones in the group.

While that was the REAL impact of Charlottesville, you did in fact discuss it in the way I laid it out.

There was momentum for Trump support from places where we hadn’t seen it. Podcast bros, Sydney Sweeney, pro athletes, etc.

Someone posted about it saying it’s become cool to be a Trump supporter. You came in with the typical awcktually and said Charlottesville would prevent it.

Fact

You're half remembering. I said what the Democrats feared was the non left becoming the counterculture because the left has primarily occupied that sphere for decades. What the left feared was a fun new version of the right that became attractive to young people as the counterculture. Proper people do not want to be associated with racists. That's why I've always argued that attacking and marginalizing these groups is so important, to not give them a platform to infect and disenfranchise legitimate anti-lift groups and messaging. Instead people coped by claiming it was fake and not real and ignored why it was important to marginalize them. We see that continuing literally to this day with this story.

Charlottesville did completely kill that momentum. This is kind of like the concept of the alt-right changing from people like Milo, Ben Shapiro, and Dave Rubin to legitimate racists. It completely derailed that momentum of a legitimate counterculture.

Now this counterculture has re-emerged but with people like Nick Fuentes and nihilistic online groups that young people are flocking to. Their positions are not specifically anti-left however, as we can see with all the discussions about Jewish people and Israel that have become popular the past couple years. This new counterculture is both anti - left and anti- Boomer right.

You define being "liberal" as a free market capitalist? Yes or no.
