Meh. If I owned an assisted living facility, I’d be uneasy having an employee making light of a cancer diagnosis. I’m sure that many of the residents in that facility have cancer and don’t think it’s funny.

Nope. If you work in the private sector, you can usually be fired without cause, unless you are under contract.
