Correct me if I'm wrong here, but it was his company that was sued for housing discrimination, correct? So is the theory that Trump himself would deny minorities from housing in his buildings or that he just set the policy that others carried out on his behalf?

The media said his statements about drug dealers, rapists, and other criminals crossing into the U.S. from Mexico was really a racist statement about Mexicans in general. Quite a stretch by the media.
The only other thing they pointed at which is still mentioned from time to time is a suit brought against the Trump Management corporation back in the early 1970s which the justice department brought alleging racism. It was quite a stretch to blame Trump since he had levels of management in the building and above which reported to him. The media made it sound as if Trump himself ran a building and wouldn't rent to black people. Was it a directive from Donald Trump back then? Unlikely but possible I guess. Nevertheless there is no clear and concrete proof of Trump being racist against blacks, hispanics, etc...
In today's climate if you want to build a wall on the border you must be racist. If you think Israel has a right to exist then you must hate all Muslims. If you don't think the military should pay for sex change operations then you automatically must hate the entire LGBTQ community. If you think baby shouldn't be aborted at 8 months 3 1/2 weeks then you against pro-choice. So many jumps to extremes it is ridiculous.

Guaranteed paid rent... the decision seems likely to have come from somewhere higher up, using basic logic. Doesn't necessarily make him guilty, but it's literally the most credible knock against him... in my opine at least. But again, i consider him more elitist than racist. Wouldn't be slightly surprised if they were also denying white people getting federal/state housing subsidiaries.
